So I have tried manual caching a photogrammetry area as I’d heard they are the only ones that work with manual caching. I chose Barcelona, followed all the steps, even only created a medium detailed region so as not to tax the system. When I had finished downloading it said 200 MIb so I knew something was wrong. When I loaded it up and it was the normal autogen not photo scenery.
The thing is, I know the data is there because when I stream it works fine. I just have too slow an internet connection so its slow and choppy when I fly. Any ideas where I could be going wrong?
I’ve saved the cache in the default folder, created an 8 gig cache for the scenery. I wonder if it could be something to do with choosing the right server? Orr maybe I have to try and save in high rather than medium? I’m not sure
Thanks. I know which cities are photo but the problem is, manual cache isn’t working at all, so there’s nothing to compare. I’ll try a small high area and see if that works
I tried that and still doesn’t work. I tried different sizes, different photogrammetry areas, even tried changing to different server nothing works. Even if I download a large area of a city on high, the file size remains really small. Rarely more than a couple of megs. Surely the file should be much bigger if it’s downloading photogrammetry data? I don’t understand why it works for some people but not me.
Ok I think I might have cracked it. Sounds obvious but it appears you need to have online and photogrammetry enabled in data settings for manual caching to work. I had photogrammetry set to off because my internet connection is too slow to stream. I turned it on and created a high detail area and it was over 2Gig in size which is much more like it! Haven’t had chance to fly over region yet but it’s a good sign.
There’s no reason it would only work for certain things. If we are caching, it should not need to stream things in on the fly, even if it’s just farmers fields the highest res farmer field available should already be showing even 100 miles away because my system knows what it looks like. That’s how i assumed the caching works.
That’s how it’s supposed to work but it’s currently bugged. those who have got it to work have only managed it with photogrammetry cities. Give it a go, it might work for you.
So I’ve managed to get manual cache to work in offline mode, it also works when photogrammetry is on and it streams the data. What doesn’t work if if you have online data on but photogrammetry streaming turned off
