I have a strange issue I’m hoping someone can help me figure out. I have a Honeycomb yoke which works fine. I also have a Virpil Warbrd stick, which only sometimes has a certain issue. Sometimes when flying with the Warbrd stick, the input will “stick” in a certain position for a second or two, during which it is stuck in position in the virtual cockpit, and after it subsides I can move the control surfaces again.
The controller itself seems fine. In calibration in MSFS and windows it shows smooth movement with no freezes or anything. Also works in DCS with no problems like this. The game is likely fine too since my Honeycomb works perfectly fine too. I don’t use anything external like SPAD or FSUIPC or whatever else.
Any ideas?
Do you have a control profile set up for your HoneyComb that removes any inputs that the Virpil should be in charge of? and one for your Virpil that does the same for when the HoneyComb is in charge.
This way you don’t have any conflicts where they are both trying to control things at the same time
I can try this out. My Honeycomb has no such problems, and usually either one of them can be used interchangeably in flight.
Might be that that particular usb socket is in power saving mode? Dunno, just thinking aloud.
That would be my suggestion too. Make a DISABLED profile for each device and select that when flying a plane that uses the other controller.
Might be that the HC is just slightly touching outside of its resting deadzone and taking focus. Guess you don’t use the yoke in DCS which is why you don’t see the problem there.
You might want to look into SonicViz’s Aircraft Manager Pro if that solves your problem so you don’t have to think about toggling the “disabled” profile every time you jump into an aircraft that uses the other
Unfortunately making an empty profile for my honeycomb didn’t fix it. I notice that it seems to happen most often when flying near cities or when my framerate might dip a little, though it ONLY affects the stick when the sticking occurs, the pedals work fine, and of course my honeycomb never does this either.
That’s weird. Tried a different USB port? A 3.2 type if you have it.
I’ll have to try that. I have everything on a powered hub but I’ll swap it around.
I swapped USB ports and still seeing the issue. Also verified every USB port has power saving disabled already. I’m working on reducing my graphics settings since I notice it happening when things get busy (near cities for example). So far my frames are pretty solidly at 30 FPS in cities, 40 FPS in more empty areas, basically all settings on Ultra on 1080p. Pretty much only limited by mainthread. So I hate to sacrifice visuals when my frames are fine.
I don’t think that is the cause as I’ve never had controls freezing when frames are being dropped. But I’m out of ideas so for sure worth a try and go from there.
