Since the latest MSFS2020 update, I’ve been encountering some strange issues.
After the update, I noticed that all items were missing from my community folder. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a backup, so I reinstalled my favorite add-ons. However, I hadn’t had the chance to launch the sim again until this past weekend. When I tried to load up MSFS2020, it crashed to desktop (CTD) during the initial loading screen.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Repairing MSFS2020 via the Xbox app and through “Add or Remove Programs” in Windows Settings.
Renaming my community folder to force MSFS2020 to create a new one, which it did, but the sim still crashes.
I’m really trying to avoid a full reinstall, as it’s such a hassle. For what it’s worth, I’ve also started using MSFS2024, which works fine, but my favorite aircraft (FSL A321) is MSFS2020 only.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I have exactly this problem. My community folder mysteriously emptied itself about a month ago and since the latest update I have the crash at start up too. I’ve just done a two day download to re-install and it hasn’t fixed it. Still searching for a solution.
The only thing that’s changed since I last used MSFS is an Nvidia driver update so I rolled back to one I know used to work but no joy. Still bombs at start up. Is there some sort of log file I can look in for clues?
Thank you @TenPatrol . Looks like that was probably my problem too but I just managed to loose my new 169GB download trying to solve the issue. Maybe I’ll try again… someday.
