Strange issue in VR only in MSFS 2020 with Pimax Crystal 5-9FPS?

Please anyone help me:
Have since yesterday a strange issue. When I start the headset and a game like MSFS2020 the side of the mask are narrower left and right and go on and off as looking on the side. The mouse is not working properly and is difficult or almost impossible to select something. Flight is very stuttering andunplayable. Note that this happens only with MSFS in VR not in DCS therefore it is not a graphic issue or a headset issue, What could it be? What should I do? By the way FPS are 5-9 and nothing has been changed in my settings. Tried with 75 and 90 refresh rate with and without PimaxXR /OpenXR in steam only = same issue

Something has changed, you just don’t know what it is.
Lighting in the room? Maybe the headset has trouble tracking.

Did you apply the usual troubleshooting = temporarily empty the community folder?

Thanks for reply. It is shurely not lighting in the room. Have tried without PimaxXR and OpenXR, receive only about 4-5 max 9 FPS. Have also tried to shut off Dynamic Foveated Rendering in Pimax Client as it is already in the OpenXR toolkit so to avoid doubling foveated rendering.
Have no issues with DCS where (without Quad views) I have above 60 FPS. How come do I have 4-max 9 FPS in MSFS2020 in VR.If not in VR I have no problems. I think it is normal that the stuttering, Side black bars and mouse not functioning with my FPS

Thanks for your reply. I tried with no community folder. It does not help. Please see my comments to QBziZ.
The only issue I have found in Device Manager is in security devices Trusted Platform Module 2.0 has a yellow key. ???
But I do not think this matters as not in VR everything works and DCS works well in VR

A recent Steam VR update is causing severe FPS drop for some VR users
Maybe you try to deactivate Steam VR on your headset and check if the problem persists?

Such low FPS may be related to extremely high resolution, too high to the sim to handle. I would check is you not applied by mistake high resulotion override in OpenXR Toolkit (for MSFS only - but you say you already tested with OXRT disabled) or in the MSFS itself (check in Graphics → VR setings if you by mistake applied TAA with high render scaling percentage).
You can consider rested to defaults MSFS Graphics Settings.

Since last update, I’m getting terrible stutters in my Pimax Crystal. And I’ve got a 4090! What is your system specs? When I get unusual breakdown’s and issues, like suddenly low fps or can’t hear atc anymore, often a simple reboot of computer corrects these issues. I think that due to the holidays, perhaps the servers are jammed too.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. Checking my settings on OpenXR I noticed that the resolution per eye was extreemly high. As I have a 3080 I set it down to 3100 x something and Now it works.
So you were right
To everybody thanks for your help. It us resolved

One more question about DFR
Should Dynamic Foveated Rendeeing be on both
a) in pimax pitool and also in
b) in OpenXR toolkit
Tally Mouse says in one post that this doubles Foveated rendering = bad

For DFR:

  1. Enable Eye Tracking in PimaxClient.
  2. Calibrate Eye Tracking in PimaxClient.
  3. Enable PimaxXR in PimaxXR - OpenXR Control Center.
  4. “Allow use Eye Tracker” in PimaxXR - OpenXR Control Center.
  5. Enable Eye Tracking in in-sim menu of OpenXR Toolkit.
  6. Enable Foveated Rendering in in-sim menu of OpenXR Toolkit.
  7. Play with OpenXR Toolkit Foveated Rendering Presets.
  8. Expect circa 10% FPS increase due to Foveated Rendering (no matter Fixed or Dynamic) in MSFS.

DFR setting in Pimax Play affects only SteamVR games, not MSFS which is OpenXR game. Doesn’t matter for MSFS.

What should not be doubled is Prefer Frame Rate over Latency in PimaxXR Control Center and Turbo Mode in OpenXR Toolkit. Only one of them should be ON.

Thanks very much

Yeh I just got a crystal and have the same issue only in msfs. When I nod my head up and down the plane moves with me but not so much if I pan left to right. Doesnt happen in anything else.

EDIT: I discovered that I wasn’t wearing the headset high enough on my head the instructional graphic was telling me to wear it too low. Once I positioned it higher and loosened the strap, letting it sort of balance on my head a bit more, the distortion of the lenses went away.

I’ve been having some issues today with Open XR tool kit locking me into odd frame rates. When I disable OXRTK it goes away. Even if I reset the defaults it doesn’t fix the problem. I’m pretty confused by it. NVCP has no frame lock. V synch is off. I’m not sure where else it could be locked.

Are you on PimaxXR or SteamVR OpenXR? Recently some SteamVR OpenXR runtime issues were reported when it comes to OXRT compatibility.
