Streamdeck xl vs Plus

Hi Guys,

Been thru search and read the few posts on Elgato here and I know having both is better but planning to buy one first and if I like it then another a few months down the line.

So should I get the xl or the plus. I know the advantages of the knobs but I saw a YT video where someone had programed two buttons of an XL as a knob which could be used for say turning the HDG bug or increasing/decreasing the altitude setting. This video at the 13 mark.

Anyone tried that on a XL?

I use both but they are not essential, it also good to use real commands with mouse.

If you should decide I would suggest to get the + and use the xl on a tablet (even on your phone)

I think I will find the buttons/knobs easier than the mouse. Not sure and thats why I wanted to try one before buying two.

Only ipad right? No android?

EDIT: Saw that android is there. Will try it out. Thanks. Have an old tablet lying around.

Yes I use an Ipad also. I have plenty of buttons. I have aslo bought some of the payed setting from flighpanels, but I gotta say, I am not using them so muche atm…but because I am still exploring.

I think they are amazing tools and you should buy one at least.

I suggest:

  1. Start with a ipad or iphone if you have one
  2. Buy Deck+ if step 1 was good to you
  3. Buy the XL if step 2 was good

I think, having time, which I don’t, that could be fun also to personalize things..

This is good advice.

The app works on Android as well and you get 6 buttons for free so you could try step 1. out for free if you want.

When I check Flight panels seems like they are profiles for camera captures? Could you share which ones you use? But as you say you dont use them much, what exactly do you use if I might ask?

Also, dont they need some special plugins?

Not only for camera. They have many profiles for the most used planes (fenix, inbuilds, flybywire etc). Recently they have made a couple of profiles also for G1000 and Cessna 172 SkyHawkl

This one it’s very good for a lot of planes AP, but there are many more in their Db.

Give all of em a try, they are worth it. Streamdeck is also good for tons of other process…streaming, workflow in general…

Yes…you need plugins for them to run, you just follow instructions for each profile you are gonna use and they will lead to the right plugins in the followin pics some examples of plugins installed
