Struggling to understand the Settings/Profiles system?

I have spent the last several days fighting with this impenetratable Settings system trying to get a handle on how this entire “mess” is used (or at least supposed to be used) to configure an aircraft to just do WHAT I TELL IT DO, no matter whether I use my mouse, a key press or whatever…

I have failed miserably so far.

Why do we have to jump in and out of the Settings system to simply SAVE our changes, as this takes us out of the Settings system, so we then have to mouse around to click on Settings again to re-enter the place were just in anyway, it’s totally ARCANE.

Equally why is there no “Cancel” button if we do something we didn’t mean to change. Right now, unless we can remember what it was we did, & change it before exiting, we can only exit with the SAVE option, which is exactly what we DO NOT WANT TO DO.

How hard is it to give us a “Back out” option rather than forcing a save on us,
get real for heavens sake ?

FS2020 handled multi aircraft configurations so much better than this terrible abortion. It was NOT perfect by any means, but at least I could swittch aircraft and get straight on with my flight, rather than having to spend the next ten minutes trying to get the aircraft configured because 2024 could not remember what I had set up previously, so clearly even the sim is totally confused by this system. !!!

This so called settings system should heve been strangled at birth. It is utterly irrelevant to the task it is supposed to perform, which it fails at all the time. I am sure there is some very well hidden secret to it, but I cannot find it.

When I change aircraft. instead of the simulator simply picking that aircraft name up and loading all MY settings previously setup for that aircraft, so then I am forced to go back into this horror system, and often go through 4-5 different “Airplanes” or “General” AREAS changing them all to match what I hopefully remeber were the different sets of controls that I specified for this airaft in the first place. but it totally ignores them, and just sicks up some default setting or other with no pattern that does not allow me to control the new aircraft.

THIS NEEDS TO BE SORTED OUT RIGHT NOW, I dread to think how a newcomer to flight simulation might proceed, but I suspect most of them will simply exit out of the door and move to X-Plane, or even back to FS2020, which while is still pretty buggy, even after 4-5 years, it is still way better in this area than 2024.

I think the problem is; new control settings are the most annoying and confusing ever. I personally prefer something Xplane and DCS offer which is simple and easy to understand.

I agree. The only thing I hated about the profile setup in 2020 was that when you were in a hardware configuration, to move between plane choices you had to click repeatedly until you found the one you wanted to apply. All they had to do was to make it a drop-down and it would have made those screens a lot easier to deal with. With that change, they should have ported THAT system over.

They could have added some bells and whistles, but that should have been the basis for the 2024 process. I assume that must not have matched well with the new code so it had to be completely rewritten.
