Stuck at 15% Activating packages

15 minutes has passed and stiil at 6% - Loading language

I had no problems on loading, xbox series X with 4gbs connection, but it won’t load in to the world. Career won’t work, free flight won’t work, can’t actually get to flying.

same here.. well, I’m sure there’s a good reason.

Same here on PC, was able to create a pilot, but not able to start a free flight or career, and only looks like its downloaded 11 GB, not 50 ish.

And when selecting an aircraft, was only a few availble, couldnt even see the cessna 172

OMG, Do NOT reload the game, you have to go through that rubbish again. Seriously, what WAS the point of that pre-release test?

Two of us stuck in my household. I used ctrl+alt+delete to shut it down. On retrying, I got a higher percentage of “activating packages” a couple of times, then it stuck on a lower percentage.

I shall try again later. I expected some loading problems, but I hoped that Microsoft would have anticipated this rather than release it to the whole world at the same time. Hardly “rocket science”!

Guys, at least you which say have i9, 64 GB RAM, fast fibre internet, at this moment that is all useless.

You can have supercomputer with 10000000000 Mbit/s it is useless, because their servers is overloaded.

I give up for now, going out and I hope it will be better in few hours when I get back.

Only reason could be microsoft servers are overloaded. We need to wait and wait and wait

Yup, unfortunately… I’m gonna leave it on until the morning, it’s midnight here

Microsoft’s server policy reminds me of my country’s highway maintenance.
“We were prepared for winter, but we didn’t expect it to snow!”

80? 140€ you mean..

In the meanwhile, I figured out why I had 100% cpu load: It was vmmem, a.k.a. WSL. Restarting the PC, shutting down WSL and then starting MSFS solved the CPU issue.

I’m going to shutdown my PC and take some sleep, continue tomorrow and hope MS will resolve the issue… Bye & Good luck!

Well, if you are comparing those two, you must consider one thing and that is number of people who are sending requests and downloading from server.

When you compare it with traffic and snowfall.
Yes, companies are ready for snowfall, but some average snowfall.
Let’s say your town have xyz km of roads, xyz km are primary, xyz km are secondary and rest is tercial category.
When there is some average snowfall and snowfall was just hour or two, they can clean it up with 100 rigs. If snowfall is extereme and it snowing for hours and hours, they can’t clean it with 100 rigs, they need 1000 rigs. If we consider that extreme snowfall happens once or twice in a year, it wouldn’t be economically possible to have 1000 rigs, which 900 of them wouldn’t be used most of the time.

Same is with server. Let’s say for normal use they have enough resources for 10.000 players, which will average number of people during year. But right now, they have requests from 100.000 players. It would be too expensive to have server able to fulfil 100.000 requests once in few months or years.

I remember when WU or SU is out for FS2020, I wait for few hours or another day and it downloads without problems, good speed without drops.

Now I am getting up to 97% and an error stating “Loading taking unusually long: Log saved”

So am I, OVER 1 HR 30.

same here.
Cheers

FYI:

Well…
0% - Loading language…
…then after about an hour:
9% - Activating packages
…another hour and a half:
17% - Activating packages
I did something else for about 5 minutes and when I got back I was at some UI where I could customize an avatar. Clicked “Body” and game crashed
Restarted game
0% - Loading language…
10 minutes later still same thing

Let’s conclude this software is not ready for release. Luckily, DCS works fine so I guess I’ll check back in a few weeks
