Stuck on 97% Loading World Data after installing patch 3

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

After updating with patch 3 this morning I’m unable to start the game. It is stuck on 97% Loading World Data. Prior to today the game launched fine.

  • I have nothing in my community folder.
  • I have cleared the streamed packages folder.
  • I have launched using Safe Mode

Is anyone else having this issue?

Does anyone have any suggestions for workarounds as I’m stuck right now!

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Empty community folder and clear streamed packages folder as per knowledge base suggestions on MSFS zendesk
  2. Launch MSFS 2024
  3. Stuck at 97% Loading World Data, then 97% Loading unusually long: log saved to Report-loading.toml. I waited an hour.

So I gave up on troubleshooting having tried everything I could think of. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and it’s working now.

Pretty annoyed that applying patch 3 broke the installation which was previously working reliably. But at least the uninstall and reinstall process is fairly quick and painless.

Same here, this is total frustration. Tried launching the game 4 times already, always getting to 97% and nothing changes.

The idealist in me says it’s not really an acceptable solution… but a reinstall DID fix it for me. If you’ve exhausted other options like clearing your community folder and streamed packages folder then I’d say give it a shot.

Out of interest, were your community folder and rolling cache left at the default locations, or had you modified them like I did? I’m wondering if there are any common factors between us.

Didn’t make any changes to the cache, but i use Symlink for community folder, so it doesn’t even count as moving it..

Did you lose any progress or logbook records after uninstalling/installing?

And the controler/keyboard/mouse bindings?

It looks like all the following survived the uninstall / reinstall. I assume due to cloud sync.

  • Logbook
  • Career
  • Button mappings (although I’ve seen another user say theirs were lost after a reinstall)
  • Most graphics settings, although there are a few where I’m suspicious they’ve changed; but I could be wrong about that.
  • Assistance settings
  • Most general settings

Things that understandably did not survive the uninstall / reinstall:

  • Rolling cache path and size
  • Community folder location

Ok, found out it was one of the liveries I had in my liveries folder. I don’t know what kind of fixes they did in the last update, but now even a livery which worked perfectly fine yesterday, prevents the sim from loading..

Out of interest, what livery was it?

I don’t know, I use addons linker so i made a folder for liveries only. Now just canelled the link of all the liveries in the folder except for the one I needed.
Eventually I’ll find out, for now I’m gonna delete them all and redownload every time the specific one that I need..
