Study Level GA Aircraft for Xbox Series X?

Are there any study level aircraft for Xbox series? X in Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or those that are near to study level?:+1:

Hi, I’m assuming you are asking about Jets and larger aircraft, and not General Aviation:

The default A310 is excellent, as are the 747, 787, CJ4, and Longitude.
For third party add-ons, the PMDG DC-6, Just Flight BAe 146, and the PMDG 737 are excellent too.

There may be others, but they are the ones I know of

literally ‘study level’?

None  (none for PC either to be clear)

Thanks for the comments, Should have said for GA aircraft🤪

You might want to check out the Kodiak (but I’d recommend a good yoke for flying it) or the C414AW.

The Islander is also a good choice.

All three are high fidelity.

Definitely agree with Nixon on those three.

But what KIND of GA aircraft? There are plenty of good(and frumpy dumpy) ones that are not study level pulling circuit breakers but still decent. If you were looking to fly something ‘GA’ for long periods of time, what would the ideal aircraft be, available or otherwise? What type/envelope. And what level of tech/modern avionics(or not)?

For default aircraft the TBM 930 has been updated greatly and is now excellent, other default aircraft such as the Cub, A5, and Shock Ultra are also very accurate because… well… they’re very simple aircraft lol

I’d definitely recommend the TBM930 if you haven’t already tried it

The FI Mk IX Spitfire. It is of course modelling a simple aeroplane but the RAF are using it themselves for training their display team. On that basis it probably qualifies more as study level than anything else in the sim.

It also happens to be an absolute blast to fly which certainly helps.

Of course the RAF do have this hooked up to some proper hardware, and that’s probably the biggest difference between home sim and actual study level equipment.

The Islander doesn’t really fly like an Islander - STOL stuff is quite off now - but it’s still a nice aircraft. The 414 is probably getting towards what the OP is asking for.

And sometimes designers trying to model every single statistical nuance and ‘feature’ of an aircraft can crossover into making things a RL pilot does intuitively SOTP when flying into a big headache in a static sim. I think it’s more important for it to behave and feel and hit its performance numbers exactly as you’d expect then extra buttons and breakers. I can say the Carenado Archer II feels, looks, and has an experience dead bang on to the real deal. We had one years ago and ■■■■ if the take off roll, turning base and final, the flare, even the view outside, all of it is EXACTLY as I remember it. But it is a bit dull and slow(as per the real one) and with no AP, an aircraft I should be spending tons of time in is just touch and go’s/landings/short afternoon re-creation hops and put it away. It’s not my ‘envelope of choice’.

And the Mooney is FAR from study level, but you surely get a sense of an executive piston and almost feel like a Doctor going somewhere. At least under 10K’ it’s pretty fantastic for getting somewhere. Both the Bonanzas do a pretty good job of the same.

Depends on if you’re looking for a challenge, an overly busy experience as a glutton for punishment, or just want to feel like what you’re doing is what you’re doing in what you want to be doing it with.

The Kodiak/Flotiak is probably still the best ‘sure I can do it’ aircraft in the Xbox world. But for some the TP can feel like cheating if you’re a piston head. A bit more expensive than the typical aircraft you see on the GA tarmac. The BR Goose is all about flying the same places a Kodiak does with zero help from electronics but you can surely blow an engine not paying attention, if you know who Jake Cutter is this is your adventure plane. The TBM is great if you want to get somewhere and learn flight planning and avionics management without getting ahead of yourself. The 414 is if you want to know what a pilot of 30 years buys for his 4th aircraft to fly himself to the Bahamas rain/shine/day/night, with complete confidence.

I really love the 414 and fly it the most on XBOX. Would you recommend the Turbo Arrow III as an alternative?

Thanks for all the replies. Done my own research and what do you think off the Milviz C310R, also the Caranado C182RG.I do know you will never truly simulate any aircraft on a Xbox but I’m looking for the best possible experience :+1:

Study Level…This is a often used NONSENSE definition. I don’t see anything to study with any aircraft in this game! Are some more complicated to fly or more complete as far as realism, YES. Neither of your choices have anything to study! As for realism you be the judge. Carenado for one does not take realism to an extreme level meaning for one not all features of the 182 are replicated in the game.
I would say drop the term Study Level for any aircraft in the game! None require studying anything to get them to work!

As an Xbox simmer and a fan of GA aircraft, I’d suggest the best currently available are the JustFlight Turbo Arrow, the Blackbird Pilatus PC-6, and the 310R.
