Stutterfest with world update 17

This is a weird one, I’ve always had a few stutters like everyone else who uses the woeful implementation of VR is FS2020 but since the latest world update, especially when flying over the new scenery its turned into a stutterfest.

Here’s the weird thing though, it only stutters when I look out of the side windows and it only does this for a few seconds then it all goes ultra smooth until I look somewhere else and it does it again, its like when you first spawn in an aircraft and MR take a few seconds to stabilise.

More weirdness, I’m using the toolkit only for the FPS counter and most of the time its disabled but when the side view is stuttering (I’m talking 2 or 3 FPS at most) the OXRTK has the frames at a solid 30 (locked with rivatuner)

I’ve tried all sorts, rolling cache on and off, DLSS quality, balanced, etc, turned all settings down to what I had them, different NVIDEA options, different render scales and its all the same problem.

I’m not a VR user but have you tried clearing the NVidia shader cache?

How to delete game cache

1 Start your PC in safe mode

  • Click start
    1start
  • Click power icon

  • Press and hold left SHIFT key and click restart
    image
  • Select Troubleshoot > advanced options > startup settings > restart
  • Select 4 - Enable safe mode

2 Click start and type

%localappdata%\D3DSCache

Press Enter
Delete all folders

3 Click start and type

%APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Nvidia\PerDriverVersion\DXCache

Press enter
Delete all files

4 Type

%localappdata%\Nvidia\GLCache

Press enter
Delete all folders

5 type

%appdata%\NVIDIAComputeCache

Press enter
Delete all folders

6 type

%localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SceneryIndexes

Delete all files

Restart PC

7 Click “start” and type storage settings - press enter
8 Click temporary files > scroll down > check box DirectX Shader Cache
9 scroll up > click Remove Files

10 Restart PC.

11 Launch MSFS. Delete and turn off rolling cache.

I landed at EGPH yesterday and experienced a lot of stutters. Then I realised I forgot to turn off that awful photogrammetry. With this turned off the game runs better and looks better.

Yep - 4080/7950x3D fly only VR and sim has been really great for months. Since WU 17 my flying has been a stutter fest as well. Have not literally touched my graphics settings in months - combination of High and a few Ultras, TOD on 125 and LOD on 100.

Should be flying nice instead it’s back to graphics tweaking to get it to stop.

I’ve tried a few things but instead have had to revert back to DLSS “quality”. I was using DLSS “DLAA” for quite a while and the picture was brilliant. At least with the Quality setting I can crank the resolution up again a bit but still not as good as DLAA.

I haven’t cleaned the shader cache as advertised though, last time I tried deleting those files the game wouldn’t even boot up. I’ve cleaned up in disk cleanup though and it didn’t make any difference.

Probably a question for another thread but why can I only sign into this forum on the PC that has FS2020 on it, if I try on a different PC it just says your XBOX something or other can’t be found so my replies arre limited to when I’m on this PC.
