Hi All, i’ve just realised this is my first post! (Been lurking for a while)
I’m relatively new to the sim (about a year) and fly exclusively in VR. It has been a great experience for me (minor issues not withstanding).
Anyway, i’ve recently looked into being able to view docs/make notes etc while flying and OpenKneeBoard seemed to fit the bill perfectly.
I’ve installed it and have gone through set up etc, however when i switch to VR, everything is really stuttery when moving my head. If i hold my head super still, its fine but when looking around its really jarring and makes me feel a bit sick. This happens even when the kneeboard is not in view.
If i come out of VR and disable openkneeboard, it instantly fixes the problem, i can go back into VR and everything is smooth again.
Can anyone help or guide me to debug? I’m really keen on using OKB, seems like it would solve a lot of problems for me.
Note i have a fairly beefy system:
RTX4090, 12900KF, Pico 4 (USB connected)
Thanks for all your help!
Not particularly helpful, I know, but I never did get very good results with a Pico4 and OKB, even with the USB connection.
Im not going to help your problem but I want to give you props for willing to try it. I sit and hope I can just get everything to work properly. Ive been trying to add a 3rd party career addon to the mix and it works sometimes. Would be nice to see sometimes work that could bring it up in vr
I’m wondering if it might be headset specific then if you haven’t had much luck with the Pico, that would be a shame, it seems to be a great headset (Though i’m still trying to get good clarity of gauges).
Cheers for the props Cavediver, honestly i’m usually quite cautious with stuff, i don’t want to accidentally make stuff unstable. However if i could take notes and refer to docs in the cockpit i think it’d be a game changer!
The OKB documentation is decent I suggest strating looking for the hints there.
I use this with a Pimax Crystal Light and have no issues but I would report this on the Open Kneeboard GitHub. I will keep an eye on this myself as I have had some stutters but they don’t seem to be related to the kneeboard.
