Do you think it would make a difference to just have rolling cache off? Or does it help performance to have it on and empty it periodically?

I had this issue and turned rolling cache off and the frame rate is back to normal.

Yeah, it’s so inconsistent. Parts of the same flight often change from truly butter smooth to stuttery and back again, with no relation to scenery or other factors (at least not visibly). And this is on a top tier system (but in VR) with a constant 45 fps locked.
