Granted I don’t have the greatest system but back in SU3 I never ever had stutters like I do now.
The stutters only occur when I am flying in a multiplayer group flight. In the air it is OK except when I want to take an outside view, the system will hang for about 15 seconds.
Also it is extremely bad when we are all taxiing out as well as on landing - landing is impossible.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be causing this?

I’ve had problems in group flights with 9800x3d and 5080. It’s simply much more taxing than flying alone or with one or two friends. Only solution is to further reduce graphics settings. I set my textures to medium for group flights.
I assume you have following option set like this:

+1 for Simplified models; this definitely reduces the load since the models are simpler and the textures are smaller.
Basically, drawing aircraft is orders of magnitude more taxing on the CPU than drawing scenery and static objects, and the more of them you have, and the more complex their models, and the higher resolution and size of their textures, the worse your performance will be.
In particular, it stresses out the CPU - which is almost always already the weak point in any system, even if you have the latest and greatest AMD chips - and once your main thread time goes up beyond 15ms or so, you start to see stuttering and FPS drops.
I don’t think there’s much to be done about it. There’s only so much you can do to optimise these things. Personally, I find SU4 to be better than SU3 in this respect, but YMMV.
Of course, the dismal state of model matching does not help. You end up loading models that are inappropriate and that you don’t need if the sim would only load the right one and re-use it properly; instead, you get fixed-wing aircraft being portrayed as helicopters. And the model can change once the player gets far enough away and then closer again.
That’s what really needs fixing IMHO.
