SU 2 & SU3 Beta - VRAM/CTD and low permanent FPS on airports (Photogrammetry issue)

Hardware:
CPU: R7 9800X3D
GPU: 9070 XT
RAM: 64GB
MB: Aorus Pro X870E
Monitor: 1440p/144, Freesync
OS: Win 11 24H2

Game:
Version: SU 2 and SU 3 1.5.4.0
No Add-ons.

Issue: (updated on June, 9th)
When spawning or approaching detailed airports like EDDF, the fps got locked around the 20fps mark and the VRAM warning appears ingame with random CTDs / driver timeouts.

The fps won’t recover throughout the whole game session.
Slewing away from big airports doesn’t result in normal fps behaviour.
Starting a new flight doesn’t bring normal fps back either.
The game has to be restarted completely to fix it.

(June, 9th)
Switching Photogrammetry OFF fixes it
A restart of the game isn’t needed.

What i’ve tried:

  • aircraft type doesn’t matter.
  • live traffic OFF and AI planes OFF.
(i’m playing usually at ultra with TAA @100, no FG, LOD to 200 / 400 with around 70 to 100fps)
  • setting the object and terrain LOD to the lowest value doesn’t change anything.
  • changing graphics settings all to low, increases the fps to 30
  • deleted rolling cache
  • deleted shader cache on amd adrenaline
    - switched Photogrammetry on/off → culprit

Effect:

  • game is unplayable when wanting start/land on big airports

Notes:
I demand to fix this (kind of) issue with a hotfix and not waiting until the next sim update.
(OT)
It would be also interesting to know if the same issue happens on consoles.
I’m personally not a fan of console support of such a game type, which downgrades the experience for PC users.
Consoles where made for playing Super Mario /s.

Update:

  • minidump context from last CTD: ‘amdkmdag.sys’

Update 2:

  • also happens on small airports like LSZR

Update 3 (June, 9th):

  • Photogrammetry ON seems to be the problem
