SU2 Ground Texture Corruption: Perspective-Dependent Block Artifacts in Airport Environments

After updating SU2, most airports experience ground texture glitches in the form of square blocks. When the drone camera moves, these glitches either disappear or move along with the camera"s perspective.

I am also seeing the same issue with airport ground texture artifacts at both Asobo and 3rd party airports. It happens at 3rd party airports regardless of whether they have been made specifically for MSFS2024 or not.

Yes i have the same exact issue. This also happens during taxi.

Also it seems once i zoom in and the texture is loaded i can zoom out without it disappearing again, until i change views again and then the texture is gone again.

Hi all,

Could those of you reporting this issue state some further details as to which airports you are experiencing these artefacts at, and whether the scenery product you are using for these airports is 3rd party payware or any of the default airports included within MSFS 2024?

Current findings indicate that the majority of third-party airports exhibit this rendering artifact, including Flightbeam’s KSFO, WFSS Team’s VHHH, AS‘s EDDM, and CloudSurf Asia Simulations’ WSSS. No similar issues have been observed in default airport packages to date.

In my original post above, I mentioned that I saw this problem at Asobo airports, but I now do not believe this to be true. Some of the third party airports I have seen this at include FlyTampa CYYZ, FSimStudios CYHZ, Flightbeam KPDX

I have seen this issue in Aerosoft Mega Airport Brussels also.
its not just default ones.

I have weirder issues with some of my scenerys pushing the updated versions into the marketplace would help us Xbox users with that tho as we are using outdated add-ons now the worse part is 2020 has newer versions of the same mod have checked

But mainly fly around New Zealand
NZA Simulations on su1 I had no bleed thru of textures the square thing and since jumping on the beta get the squares then at night will get random light spots on the ground that light up like day till I’m close or look at them

Have also had this happen at nzwl so west Melton unsure if that’s to do with me still being close to the addon for nzch

Have noticed down near nzmf that something’s changed with su2 as now the addon by NZA Simulations for down there is having floating rocks and doing a whole bunch it shouldn’t was fine on Sim update 1 tho

I get the texture issue time to time. I did have something catch my eye yesterday.

Large radio towers in of Knoxville, TN (overcast) guy-wires were having a blue glow around them.

Have not seen any other towers with guy-wires to test.

TAA mode, no frame gen, 4090, 7800 X3d

It occurs in all airports that use Project Mesh.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.

In addition to what has been mentioned above, I am noticing popping tiles of texture appear and reappear while taxing around airports. For example, you can see that the centerline texture disappears in a block, only to reappear a second later. When the texture disappears, you can see a blob of the centerline under it. I am assuming the base ground texture that shows under it.

Here is an example where the block of texture is gone. If I move my camera, it reappears.

I’ve noticed that as well. It’s been Bug Logged in another Bug Report.
