I don’t have a GamePass subscription. Thanks for reporting it
I have noticed that several planes now have a static Remove Before Flight banner in walkaround mode. The banner doesn’t interact with the wind anymore. I’ve already created a bug report on this but I just want to confirm that this happens to other users as well.
My findings are that -for example the PC12- has static banners, while the C172’s banners interact with the wind. They must have changed something on these banners as well because the ones that are working seem to interact with the wind much more realistically and less erratic than before.
And even with the current beta, I still can’t control the EFB with the Xbox controller, and I still don’t have a flight map (On XBox S and X). How long will this take? Sad…
I haven’t even tried .16.0 out yet, I can see they have paid the usual amount of attention us Beta testers. There have been multiple calls to not release a new Beta version just before the weekend, and voila! Hmmm
Minimal changes in .16. Likely release candidate. I think performance on landing and stutters during various phases f flight has been ongoing for a while now though. I’m only just catching up with testing SU3 after a complete FS2024 reinstall to remove any issues on my end.
What are these patch notes anyway? They seemingly don’t do anything, no matter how many new builds are released. One or two notes and that’s it. It feels like the whole beta period is to find and try to fix all the things the beta itself breaks, and not the actual things it’s supposed to fix. It feels like running in circles, and not actually progressing towards something.
2 days passed between the release of 1.5.15 and 1.5.16, only 2 days… this probably explains the short list, no ?
well, there were some big improvements in performance and ATC at least.
It’s much less than expected though.
It’s seems like major big things are almost stabilized.
now I hope many little things will be fixed soon with some more improvements as well.
Now that I am flying, I agree, the changes are minimal. (though it looks like the LNAV is now dysfunctional on the 747-8F, at least at present) That isn’t the point. I don’t know if you experienced the horrific release of a couple Fridays ago or not, but it basically killed the weekend flying for FS24 Beta testers. There were some very well reasoned and written pleas to not release a new Beta on Fridays, by many people in the community.(One of them being the weekend is the time when the most people would be flying, and they rely on our telemetry. No flying, no telemetry) Two weeks later, here we are. It just feels like the concerns of many are disregarded, even though we are the Guinea pigs.
I loaded in an approach to S43, and started fine. Flew around that area and into the Seattle area without issue.
Regards
To be honest I don’t mind Friday releases. It’s much more efficient for the developers to come back to work first thing Monday morning and see the results and get straight to work.
Yes, when we have had bad releases where you can’t play, just revert to SU2 for the weekend or even better 2020.
If we stop them releasing betas on a Friday then it will just take longer for the bugs to be fixed in my opinion.
.16 pretty bad on my system.
Fps is lower than normal. But it does not bother me much as it initially feels smooth. Problem is it gradually gets lower and never picks up again.
Tested pmdg777. Starting out pretty good 100ish fps (all fps=2xFG) on ground EKCH FlyTampa. Inserting BAtc tfc seem to have a bigger impact on fps than normal.
Fps 70ish in cruise, not impressive, but ok.
Fps getting worse upon touchdown, and even getting major stutters rolling out Aerosoft ENGM.
Ini350 is almost unplayable in beta for me.
It starts out ok’ish as well(60-70fps (before 80+)) Then deteriorates. 30fps (ie 15 ‘real’) upon landing.
Just walking in the cabin during cruise halves the fps. Gsx(boarding) causing major spikes with the 350. Will shelf the 350 in the beta - something really wrong.
As mentioned by others, main-thread is getting hammered for some reason.
It makes my 5090 barely work at all (30-40%), while CPU is at 25-30% (NVidia overlay, so not sure what it actually shows/means. Each core 25%?).
In scenarios where main thread is less strained, GPU and CPU also has higher workload and fps is correspondingly higher.
This is mainly at payware airports and 3rd party A/C. Point is these scenarios were fine before - SU3 not so…
Soooo…Msfs2024 su3 seem very strained, and is unable to utilize the hardware properly.
Launching a standard 3d game/rpg/whatever and GPU easily works at 90% - I can even hear the fans ; never in msfs.
5090, 7900x3d, 64gb ram 5600mt, 4k (5120x1440).
It’s not the 3rd party stuff. My fresh installed vanilla copy of the sim using the default 737 Max and default airports behaves pretty much the same as what you are describing albeit I have a 4 yr old PC and a 3090. These performance issues are making it a GA only simulator for me. At this stage I’d take SU1 over SU3. I could at least use airliners in it without these performance dips.
Have you seen this thread:
Yeah, tnx. Already voted.
Something feels very ‘strained’ with this beta - same with .15 (but not time to test much).
SU2 is better, but has these messed up/blurry lights. So good for daylight flying only😉
Yes, there is something going on in the main thread that has nothing to do with the GPU. I have tried everthing to get rid of those microstutters including buying a 5080, which shows only about 50-60% utilized and the main thread problems. This is typical.
Been discussing best ways to framecap separately but that does not seem to be the main issue. 60 FPS should be modest for my rig.
Asobo / Microsoft - please keep up the good work and do further optimization to SU3 !
I would say… XPLANE - if they patched something - it brings a lot new stuff and you can actualy see and feel it. … 20+ people working on this…
MSFS - 200 + people working - and their betas are … silent on this…
But MSFS 24 have more content than Xplane 12 … (Career Mode, more default Aircraft, Scenery/Airport, Mission ect)
MSFS Core Team (so Asobo) just for the core flight simulator without Mission/Career mode, is 60 devs (include Q/A team and WT Team for Avionic) … Also Xplane have more 30 years of maturity.
Also Asobo have a big Art Team, is not the case of Laminar Research is outsourced.
