[SU7] Sim freezing completely in the cockpit - cause and fix

If you are finding that your SIM is totally freezing in the cockpit, perhaps when you change views, you might be experiencing the ‘next pilot position’ action bug.

It is caused when the NPP action is triggered from when you are iin freelook mode in cockpit view. It can effect PC and Xbox users.

It can be avoided by unmapping/not using the NPP action.

This bug is caused by activating the ‘next pilot position’ command from the DEFAULT cockpit view or in Freelook mode. Out of curiosity, are you talking about a complete freeze where the sim pauses completely? Or is this occurring where the sim continues but all camera actions and flight controls such as flaps/spoilers stop working? I’ve had the latter occur to me in the A32NX recently, and I thought it was the replay mode’s fault until I disabled the replay mod and it occurred again.

The NPP bug causes the SIM to freeze totally and even stuff outside the sim like the mouse. It can usually only be escaped by a CNTL-ALT-DEL and then task manager.

Got it, thanks. Looks like the issue I’ve been facing is a different one, possibly related to the A32nx.

Yes, it freezes the sim when looking around in cockpit view/ freelook. But I may have another cause. As far as I know i did not map NPP at all.

Its mapped by default to the ‘up’ position on a hat switch when in cockpit view. So if you have a yoke or joystick with a hat switch that you use to look around…chances are NPP is mapped.
