SU8 - Cessna Caravan camera viewpoint seems to be inside pilot's head

Just tried a couple of flights in C208B after updating to SU8. There is a frustrating “easter egg” in the cockpit view of the C208B. The cockpit camera viewpoint seems to be inside the head of the pilot, with his sunglasses and hair directly in front of and around the camera viewpoint. It is almost impossible to use the plane controls. Both the pilot and co-pilot figures are seated and visible.

On one flight, I was able to get rid of the pilot obstructing the camera view by multiple random mouse clicks. On the other flight, I couldn’t get rid of the effect and had to abandon the flight.

Is there any way to get around having to deal with this annoyance?

This is not what an ‘easter egg’ in a game is.

Oh. Thought it might be. What is it? How do I get rid of it?

Are you using any 208 mods? I’d read some mods were causing this issue to happen.

Yes, I think I have a C208B mod in use. Will verify.

Any time you encounter an issue with this sim, troubleshooting step #1 is always rename or move the Community folder and try to replicate the issue.

Those are Easter Eggs in games:

Just removed the Caravan 208 mod and the problem with the cockpit view is gone.

Thanks, @NixonRedgrave and @tclayton2k !

either

Set pilot weight to zero, and see if that removes the Pilot

or - if that does not work

Select one of the Pilot options, and then go find that Pilot Model, and delete, or rename it with say a .old at the end of the file name.

Then, if you select that Pilot, they will not display, but you can always set a Pilot weight for full realistic weight & Balance simulation.

The DA40NG with the improvement mod does this too. It’s a trip in VR! For extra fun you can move to the co-pilot seat. I slide forward a bit to get better instrument visibility, so it’s not too much of a problem for me.

I’m not sure what triggers it but I’ve had it in SU7. Once the pilot is there she seems to always come back.

The easter egg is she has on an Asobo t-shirt.

I’d like to be able and turn on the co-pilot and passengers for added realism.

This one really makes me angry. Fix this yesterday.

The OP already confirmed it was an issue with a mod he had installed.

I just figured it out. I have a mod for the Cessna 208 Grand Caravan. An automatic avatar pilot must have been applied. Going to delete the mod now.

Literally already “fixed yesterday” if you’d read the thread before getting upset. Glad you eventually got to the solution though.

If you still want to use the mod, you can use the following workaround to solve the problem (thanks to Ardewald in GitHub):

Copy the next file from the default Asobo aircraft folder, into the mod folder, overwriting the existing file:

“[MSFS-root]\Official\OneStore\asobo-aircraft-208b-grand-caravan-ex\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_208B_GRAND_CARAVAN_EX\model\208B_GRAND_CARAVAN_EX_INTERIOR_LOD00.gltf”

“[MSFS-root]\Community\C208B-mod\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_208B_GRAND_CARAVAN_EX\model\208B_GRAND_CARAVAN_EX_INTERIOR_LOD00.gltf”
