Suddenly limited by GPU

So I was limited by main thread, now it’s gone to GPU. Haven’t changed any PC settings (outside of sim) only re downloaded the GeForce app. Went onto the sim and I’m getting like 9FPS, thought it was a bug so tried lowering all the sim settings to the lowest possible no ai stuff like aircraft or anything like that. Tried spawning in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and at a random airport on a pacific island and still getting the same results. Please don’t say adjust your system settings because I’ve tried them on the lowest possible

Any advice system specs:

i7-11700k
RAM 46gb (I think recently upgraded but know it’s above 32GB)
2TB SSD
8GB RTX 3070
4k TV

How do you explain that the max memory of your GPU is only 5.72 GB… have you updated your Nvidia drivers? I’m going with 555.85 just fine.

Already have that installed, one of the things I check regularly for

Is your operating system up to date?
The first one I found on YouTube:

Both Main Thread and GPU latency is outrageously high. I’d like to see the result of an Aida64 memory latency test. I think the trial version allows that test, but I have the paid version, so I’m unsure of that. It won’t hurt to download and run the trial version.

Per the software company:

AIDA64 Extreme comes with a built in 30-day trial period. During the trial period AIDA64 may offer limited functionality, and may not display all data on the information and benchmark result pages.

Apart from optional updates like windows 11 it’s all up to date

Looks like something outside of MSFS is eating VRAM. If you are using GeForce Experience or anything like that, I’d uninstall it, reboot and see if MSFS then shows something closer to the 8GB of VRAM you actually have.

Nah still the exact same for some reason

With less than 6GB of VRAM for MSFS, you need to either figure out what is eating VRAM or reduce texture resolution to stay below 5GB of VRAM usage in MSFS. If all fails, switch to DX11 and see if it uses less VRAM to give you back your FPS.

Can’t think of or see anything on task manger. Tried lowest possible in game settings and dx11. Going to see a pc guy tomorrow that used in the past to see if he can figure it out thanks for the advice

You might want to try using GeoForce to calibrate your settings for your hardware. You may get need it to inventory where MSFS is located. If you don’t like the new settings, it is very easy to revert to the previous settings (which don’t seem to be working very well).

Think its a virus or a miner

Yep, you found the culprit.

And thankfully removed which was only removed with AVG AntiVirus, for some reason windows security didn’t pick it up
