My MSFS 2024 was working fine for the past couple of months. Yesterday I added the California city update to my library (streaming). Today I am taxiing at Memphis, Tennessee and I get constant stutters every 5 seconds.
I have taken some screenshots, maybe someone smarter than me can tell me what is happening.
I have a 4070 with 12gb of vram and 32gb of ram playing on 1440p.
graphics settings for reference:
The way I understand it is something is using up all vram. I don’t know why that all of a sudden would happen. I haven’t updated my pmdg 777F, I am using the default memphis scenery, i have set clear weather. I have also set the rolling cache to 1gb and then back to 32gb again.
mods/plugins in use:
pmdg 777F
elevatex
navigraph
volanta
Any tips or hints are welcome
I have restarted msfs and the high VRAM usage is gone, it’s back to what it used to be.
I still have stutters. I see this when that happens:
I have searched for it and people suggest enabling DLSS, but i still get the random stutter then.
Just to clarify - does this happen only when you’re flying the PMDG, or do you get those stutters every 5 seconds no matter what aircraft you’re using?
Thanks for your thoughts on this.
I restarted my PC and tried the default Cessna 172. That was smooth, no stutters.
So it must be the PMDG. Next I removed all WASM files related to the 777 and rebooted again. But I still get the stutters.
Really weird, I never had that issue. I think my next step is contacting PMDG support, unless you have any other suggestions?
Don’t bother trying to fix it yourself - this is a PMDG bug. We already reported it during SU4 testing, and so far PMDG hasn’t been able to fix it.
But I have a workaround for you: to stop the stuttering every 5 seconds, just set both the left and right tablets in the PMDG 777 to the Weight & Balance page. Once you do that, the stutters disappear.
@TheFalconOne do you know if PMDG plans to release a fix for this issue?
You are a genius
I would never have figured that out, but for how crazy it sounds, it actually works!
I’m not the one who figured this out, I don’t even remember who, but it was someone from the forum. The real geniuses are at PMDG, and I’m sure they’ll fix it… sometime this century.
