Hi all,
I’ve got a request to supply a PC for work use but can also run FS reasonably. Obviously I know it’s easy for money to run away but any thoughts on a sensible setup, possibly 4k wide screen. Off the shelf seems to be i7s when you start looking at RTX cards but which RTX card is sufficient?
Many thanks
Just looking some more at this. What’s the suggested frame rate? I’ve found a website that shows that with an i7-12700 and a 3060Ti you should be able to get 37fps on 3840x2160 at Ultra and with a 3070Ti this bumps up to 44fps
Would like to know as well
Tell us your budget? and I’ll have a look but for a reasonable cost 1440p look no further than a Ryzen7 5 series* paired with an rtx3060. All ultra, high LOD, fps in the mid 40’s, or 50’s with DLSS.
*It has to be a Ryzen 5xxx to take advantage of a sizable boost from PBO undervolting, the 5700X and 5800X have eight cores which is a little more future proof than the 5600X’s six … I would only recommend an expensive X3D with at least an rtx3070 or you really won’t see much benefit.

Regarding FPS: as this is a flight simulation, you do not need very high frame rates. Anything consistently above 30FPS is good enough. The key word is consistent: when looking at benchmarks, watch on 0.1 and 1% low rather than averages as this is what will determine smoothness.
When selecting a GPU, pay great attention to the amount of VRAM.
Generally 8Gb is good for 1080p, maybe 1440p not more.
For 1440p it is best to have 16Gb, although 12Gb may suffice depending on usage.
For 4K a minimum of 16Gb is preferred, even higher if possible.
If using DX12 and the more you indulge in addons, the higher VRAM usage.
Regarding CPU: the smoothness this game is very much a function by the CPU performance. IMHO, you should get the highest performance CPU you can afford, than
