Sunrise flight Napa/Sonoma

Departed Nut Tree airport KVCB (really need that runway smoothed out especially on the 020° departure/landing… it’s a killer).

Flew WSW toward Rohnert Park and caught the sunrise over Sonoma State University.

Headed back to KVCB and got a shot of some of the hills between Sonoma and Napa Counties before making my final approach to KVCB runway 2.

Aside from the killer runway situation, runway 2 is nice for practicing closed pattern/touch and go due to some really nice visual markers while transitioning between crosswind/downwind/base (ridge line at 200°, manmade pond at base).

Good morning flight.

I must confirm also flew here (if I can say as San Francisco area) in very old FU2 sim and then every FS version to remember that nice area to fly so many perfect aerodroms. remember Buchanan as my favorite

You’re correct, there are so many airport options in the San Francisco area. I live right near Travis AFB and the Nut Tree Airport.

Even though I have the whole world available, there is something really fun about flying airports that I have right around my own area.

The familiar landmarks make VFR much more enjoyable.
