I’m removing my GPU, AMD Radeon 6700 XT and installing a new Nvidea 4090. Is there any advice regarding proper removal for MSFS 2020 to function properly afterwards? I plan to remove the card physically and all drivers and software that I can from the Win11 installation. But, if there’s a procedure I should follow, I’d really like some advice.
Thanks!
If you want to start with a clean slate:
- Download the most up to date driver package from Nvidia, do not install yet. Also download and install Display Driver Uninstaller.
-
Fully disconnect from the internet to prevent Windows from trying to automatically install new drivers, then reboot into safe mode.
-
Use DDU to remove any and all currently installed video drivers.
-
After any necessary reboots from DDU, shut down and install the new card.
-
Boot up and install Nvidia drivers from Step 1. Some people recommend not installing GeForce Experience. I would as well to limit unnecessary resource usage unless you have a specific need for it.
-
Reboot into normal mode and reconnect to the internet. You should now be done.
