I’d recommend a beefier GPU for VR
Hi
I have an Xbox series X - I only use it for FS2020. I have the option to sell it and buy this spec of PC new for a very small price difference. Is it worth it?
Ryzen 5 5500, RTX 3060Ti 8GB, B450 Mobo, 16GB 3200MHZ RAM, 500GB NVMe SSD
Thanks
Keep the Xbox X.
‘Is it worth it?” Is subjective. It’s up to you. The good thing about a PC is that it can be used for more than just games. I can’t speak for your PC’s FS playing capabilities as I am not that versed on PC hardware.
Are you happy playing FS on your XBox? If so, then why change? If you’d like more dlc and third party available your FS then get the PC. You can always upgrade a PC hardware when you have the cash, but you can’t do the same for the Xbox
At the end of the day the decision is yours. It’s what you’re happy with that really counts.
That PC is not the best, but a little bit more powerfull than the SX, but the SSD in this PC is IMO to small. You should better get one with 1+ TB.
The question is, why you want to switch? Will this PC match your desire?
Thanks. Mainly lack of stability with 3P enhancements on Xbox. And lack of decent peripherals.
Doubt I would use the PC for much more than FS as I already have a 2017 MacBook Pro as my daily driver for my projects. Ha
I play tons of stuff, the series x is very capable just maybe not so much on MSFS in the current state.
But with its AMD processor and other devs easily putting in FSR2.0 into there games like Scorn, also believe Dying light 2.
Pc version of MSFS just got FSR2.0 support so it’s just a matter of time for Xbox.
It’s literally made to do one thing, very well. Yeah on paper the specs might match. But reality is I can shut the system off in sleep mode, turn it back on in seconds, and open a game I never fully closed in under 15 seconds. Seriously Scorn is a masterpiece of art on the Series X.. even tho it’s super basic it looked and ran amazing.
If able, I would get a pc but keep the console till you’re positive you’re happy with the pc performance.
All you play is MSFS so it’s up to you what you’re looking for. I just hate to see people get Walmart style “gaming PCs” that have lacking power supply, and run like garbage even tho on paper it better hardware. Not saying the pc you’re getting is a Walmart pc but just as an example of good on paper.
Thanks. It’s not a Walmart PC but built by a specialist using decent components.
Sounds like I should wait. New year sales and the impending release of more 40xx cards might mean I can get something significantly better than the XsX in the next few months.
I have MSFS2020 running on both a custom built by me pc and on a Xbox X.
I will tell you the specs.
On the pc.
AMD 5900x and AMD6950xt, both custom water cooled with 32 gigs DDR4-3600 ram on a MSI UNIFY X570 mb with a 1 tb sad and Win 11. I have it hooked to a Samsung 49” 5120x1440 monitor running at 120?mhz. It has a Flight velocity 6 gauge panel, Logitech yoke and rudder pedals.
The Xbox X is hooked to a Samsung 77” 4k Q60 LED TV. I just got Turtle Beach VelocityOne yoke and Throttle and Turtle Beach rudder pedals that work well withe the Xbox X for MSFS2020.
The PC setup has more fidelity options But I have just as much fun on the Xbox X!
Thus, my comment about keeping the Xbox X.
What monitor or TV are you using?
I’m using a 32” Dell monitor. S3221QS. It’s my work desk/ setup. For practical reasons I wouldn’t ever use our TV, so am confined to the Dell whether I go PC or stay Xbox.
FSR 2.0 for Xbox never happened.
