SWS Kodiak 100 rudder problem (msfs2024)

Hello,

After trying everything i could think of, and not solving the problem, i throw the towel into the ring.

Hopefully someone here can help me with this?

After flying different GA planes, i went back to the SWS Kodiak 100 for some flying.

After starting the plane up, the rudder pedals are still working. But when i put the propeller pitch lever from 50% to 100% for taxiing, the pedals are suddenly locked and cannot use the pedals for steering anymore. (Ingame visual also locked)

After i reach an speed of 10 kts, while taxiing, the pedals are being unlocked again. If i slow down again beneath the 10 kts, the pedals are.locked again. (In the position i had the pedals while rolling)

The nosewheel steering is working, on an hatswitch without any problems.

I have it only with this plane and never encounter this before. I did an complete re-install of MSFS24, checked if my pedals axis input was in conflict with some other input, tried the auto-rudder option, reinstall the drivers of the pedals ect.

Other planes works like a charm.

What am i missing in this?

Edit.

Tried some more.

If the propeller pitch lever is at 50% and the propellor is starting up, it will lock the pedals instantly.

I am thinking its an software thing of the module itself. But if it is, than i should be not the only one with this ptoblem, right?

They built a custom flight model to simulate rudder aileron interconnect. I don’t know if you have the amphibian version, but it’s even worse. You have to yank it off the ground as soon as possible, or (my solution) just uninstall it. There’s nothing you can do.

Ive just tried the wheeled and amphibian too .No problems here.I can use the nws on my stick and the rudder on pedals without the problems you have mentioned. I would try to unbind the nws and see if the issue remains. My NWS is bound to axis Z on the stick

Are you confusing the PC-12 with the Kodiak…? The Kodiak has no Interlock, that applies to the Pilatus PC-12.

Besides that…I can NOT replicate any of your problems mentioned here; right now tried it with wheeled and Amphibian.

I never had that issue with any version of the Kodiak, neither in 2020 nor 2024. So I am sorry but it seems to be a “local/you” problem

Thanks for the replies / testing.

I am not confusing the PC-12 with the Kodiak.
I never mentioned the interlock. I just described the problem i encounter with the rudder-pedals while taxing within the Kodiak.

I also had never an issue with the Kodiak before, but last couple of months i have flown other GA planes. It’s been awhile i flown the Kodiak.

I have send an ticket to SWS with this problem.
Fingers crossed.

Strangely my setup hasn’t changed from the point that i flown the Kodiak without any issue.
Because of this issue, i re-installed a clean W11, a clean MSFS24 and still no joy.

If other people dont encounter this problem, than it should be likewise to be a local problem on my side.
But strangely it only affects the Kodiak so far.

Is it affecting the effect of the pedals or just the visual position of them and/or the rudder and nosewheel? Or all of the above?

It is affecting the effect of the pedals, visual and rudder position aswel.

The pedals getting “locked” in last know position.
If i am going in a right-hand turn and the speed goes below 10 kts, the pedals get “locked” in that position and the plane will continue in its right-hand turn. I have to countersteer this with the NWS until the speed gets above the 10 kts and the pedals gets “unlocked” visualy anf physically.

My reply was primarily addressed to OldpondGL since he spoke about it and I don’t know where he got this from or what he is actually talking about tbh.

But you are facing something really strange here…I was thinking about some bug with assistance features, but those should affect every aircraft

To me this sound like a bindings issue.

I would check all controlls for possible bindings to NWS and unbind them.

I’m not at my PC, but I‘m not sure the Kodiak has dedicated NWS at all…

I think you can steer every aircraft with your “tiller/NWS” binding, the Sim doesn’t seem to make a difference here (more sophisticated addons will be an exception). At least I remember it that way right now…

Hi, I’m experiencing exactly the same thing: as soon as the propeller speeds up, the pedals lock up. It only happens with this aircraft. No matter how much I look into it, I can’t figure out why. Curiously, if I engage reverse thrust, they do work.

Hello all.

The problem with the rudder pedals is solved with help from SWS.

From a long story to the short one:
The culprit is (on my side) FSrealistic Pro.

If i turn the setting “elevator and rudder” under Propwash to off, the problems with rudder are no more.

Thanks for posting; always impressive what can come across in flight sim world.

Reading it now it kind of sounds plausible, but who might have thought of that?

Have the Kodiak in both 2020 and 2024 with FS Realistic and this issue is only with the 2024 variant. I submitted a ticket with RKApps.

That’s right, I’m having the same issue. There’s a conflict with FSRealistic.

I sent a ticket into rkApps and they are aware of it.

Yes, I already did that, and that was their response. Thank you.

I don’t use FSRealistic and I’m having an issue with the rudder pedals not mapping to my Redbird RD1 Rudder pedals. Was able to map brakes in FSUIPC but rudder pedals are just erratically moving on their own and will not work on the bound axis. Didn’t have this problem for over a year with the same setup, but had to reload both MS 2020 and 2024 due to an issue with Windows where OS had to be reloaded.
