An iMac 27“ 2020, i7 3.8 GHz, 32 GB RAM and an AMD Radeon Pro 5700XT with 16 GB VRAM. Yes, a Mac. That‘s no joke.
And rarely any CTDs. True story. duck and cover ![]()
Are you running a VM?
No, Windows 10 „natively“ installed on an external SSD.
System:
10900KF OC 5.2Ghz, 2070 Super, 32GB 3200 Mhz, MSFS installed on SHDD, 4K Monitor
Current settings (FBWA320 based):
I have Terrain LOD set at 100 on the ground then after take-off, I set to 200 and then 400.
(On a side note having dynamic LOD would be amazing! It would increase the FPS in busy dense airports, whilst helping to keep VRAM use low, then when you climb LOD increases allowing you to fully appreciate the crisp textures)
Example of performance: FBW A320, EDDF Enhanced
Extra: Currently limited by main thread, then second I would say is VRAM. Next computer change will be to upgrade GPU - if there ever back in stock again ![]()
lol I dipped my toes into the Apple computing world 15 years ago, got the first MacBook and ran WinXP on it 95% of the time, mostly playing FFXI. Never again bought a computer from Apple, phones are a different story.
Current specs:
Aorus z390 pro wifi mobo, i7-9700k, 3080FE (Oct 2020 MSRP baby!! got lucky), 64GB RAM, Sabrent Rocket m.2 SSD, 2560x1440 Dell gsync-compatible monitor, all 3 parts of the TCA Airbus package, Saitek rudder pedals, TrackIR.
FWIW I’ve had very good luck with stability – zero install issues and not nearly as many CTD as some people; zero thus far in the SU8 beta.

I am waiting to get a xbox series X to play in 4k on a 60“ 4K TV.
with a system like you have , i would not go to xbox…severe lack of addons.
Thanks for the reply.
The xbox X is for the GA planes and for sight seeing (world tour).
Because in 4k the scenery would look a lot better, i think.
For The FBW A320 (IFR) i take the PC, the FBW is not available for xbox. That is sad enough.
But here in Germany the Xbox X is not available at present. So i have to wait.
But i often play other games on PS4 Pro (shooter/fifa etc) and the xbox x is also for these type of games.
Hey microsoft!
Please build more xbox x and send them to germany!!! ![]()
I don’t want to pay these scammer prizes!!!
Located on my profile. Next upgrade SSD and a new GPU if ever they normalize. In the meantime though all my funds are thrown towards school so I am stuck with what I have.
Started at sim launch in August '20 with my then-4 year old laptop: i7-6820HK, 16GB DDR4-2666, mobile GTX1070 w/8GB and an m.2 NVME SSD. I was flying at 1080p with most settings on high, a few turned down to medium.
As of a couple months ago I got a new pre-built tower:
i7-11700KF
32GB DDR4-3600
RTX3070 w/8GB
m.2 NVME SSD
Currently flying at 1440p and all settings at Ultra; LODs set to 175/100 and Render Scale bumped to 115%. This is to “overload” the GPU and avoid “Limited by Mainthread” as much as possible and keep framerates smooth and fluid. It costs a few FPS peak but keeps things pretty much stutter-free even in heavy traffic/PG areas like JFK or SFO.
