T.Flight Hotas 4

Hi Guys,
I have the Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4. Sometimes, on its own, the PS button light goes from Green (normal for PC playing) to Red. Not while I am playing the MSFS. I have reinstalled the drivers and change the USP port, but still the same. Its not a major problem but its annoying. Does it happen to any one of you?

Just out of interest and given it’s function it shouldn’t be, but is that a mappable button? If so, might a default mapping have been made to it and either the current MSFS issue with ESC/resume or another issue, is somehow activating it?

I know it’s probably unlikely, but maybe still worth checking.

That button is the only one that is NOT mappable.

Fair enough. It would have been odd I guess.

Does TM have a forum that might contain posts from peeps with similar issues on MSFS? You are correct to post here, of course, but there might also be someone over there suffering similar issues.

It doesn’t sound like a hardware issue, as then it would present when you use it on all software.

Ah, just reread your OP. So does the button LED switch from green to red when you are using it in MSFS or when you aren’t?

It doesn’t switch (from Green to Red) while I am using MSFS. It does it (sometimes) while I am NOT using MSFS

I couldn’t find a forum on TM. I will keep trying.

Then in device manager, find the device in the list of USB devices and try disabling the power management feature.

That appears to cause all sorts of issues on USB and i’d rather MS would default it to off rather than on.

OK but How do I find out what USB port the HOTA uses.

LOL, i just amend all of the ones that have a power management tab if i have any issues, but I’d start with the composite device.

The HOTAS might have an entry in the Human Interface Devices and if so, you should be able to navigate to its associated USB properties dialogue.

Thanks for the info

no worries

I have disabled the Power Management as you suggested. What I have noticed the light comes Red from Green the moment I press the icon to start MSFS, then I switch it back to Green and it comes Red again at the time when MSFS starts to check for updates ,or just after. I put it back to Green and it stays there while MSFS is running. Anyway no big deal as it doesn’t affect my playing…

that is an odd one and as it is not a feature mentioned in the manual for the HOTAS 4, that would tend to implicate the drivers. however, as you say, if it doesn’t affect your enjoyment of MSFS, it won’t matter too much.

Maybe even get a VR headset and then what you can’t see will hurt you even less.

“what you can’t see will hurt you even less” .ha ha ha a good one

I could tell you about a towel and the ravenous bug blatter beast of Traal, but you might already know.

Thinking again about your lights, if it just happens at various stages during the MSFS startup, MSFS does seem to demand an awful lot of PC resources, so it might just be causing the HOTAS driver to think that the PC has died?

Touch wood…my PC is alive and well…

I suspect that all PCs get a bit of a hammering, so it wasn’t to suggest that your PC was not up to it. I just think that MSFS takes what resources it can and leaves precious little for anything else, when it is loading.

I’ve tried loading browsers etc. at that point and let’s say they don’t seem to want to load until MSFS has finished what it is doing.

For example, my CPU temp gets to its hottest just before the selected flight is loaded, so does your light change colour at that point too?

Did you find the story about the towel and the RBBoT by the way?

It should be in the Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

No Please send me a link to read.

“The Ravenous Bugblatter Beast is so mind-bogglingly stupid that it thinks that if you can’t see it, it can’t see you. Therefore, the best defense against a Bugblatter Beast is to wrap a towel around your head.”
