Tablet Mounting Options

Good morning forum,

More often then not, I find myself all over the taxiway as I’m trying to look at the charts on my farr ight display. The one on the “left” or right in front of me is my Air Manager instrument panel.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab laying around I forgot about, got it reset and now have Navigraph working great on it.

I mainly just want to use it for the Taxi charts so I can navigate the airport more effeciently without looking to far away from cockpit display.

This is where the problem lies, I am not sure how / where to mount this thing. Desk space is a premium when it comes to putting it where my eyes are when looking out the windshield so I was half thinking of putting a strip of velcro across the Honeycomb Alpha yolk and the other on the back of the tablet and velcroing it (portrait layout) to the yolk.

I just don’t know if my OCD wants to put velcro on it

Anyone else using a similar setup (tablet for charts) that have some clever mounting ideas? Or has anyone else done the velcro to the yolk trick?

The one plus for the velcro is the way the Alpha is designed the upper portion is angled so the tablet would sit nicely instead of flush mount.

Any ideas welcome!

I think I have seen some folks post pics of exactly this sort of thing and it looks like the “best case scenario” way of having a companion tablet to be honest.

I don’t own a yoke, but I do own a 3d printer and therefore that is my go-to tool for mounting solutions. My MonsterTech throttle mounts have sprouted all sorts of extra bits for mounting StreamDeck’s etc.

However, if I did own a yoke then mounting the tablet to it with Velcro or something would actually make the most sense.

This is a really nice unit. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IMN58US/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1Screen Shot 2021-11-25 at 5.47.43 AM

Thanks gents!

I was looking at clampng arms, etc as I have no where to put a “stand” so to speak I just couldn’t visualize where I could actually attach it and have it look okay.

I know it sounds silly, I’m just very OCD with that stuff. If it’s a monitor the arm hides behind the mass of it, but trying to hide an arm and clamp behind a tablet is a bit more trickier.

I bit the bullet and grabbed some ALFA-LOK style velcro strips and mounted it to the yolk and I must say I do like it.

The only thing I hate, again me being silly is that it’s white frame and not black. I may have to make a purchase lol.

But it works!
