ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Hi guys, I have problems with the Boeing 737 MAX from Asobo. When I want to take off on the runway, the airplane barely climbs into the air (approx. VS 300). When I am in the air (approx. 1500ft) and I let go of the control horn, the airplane descends sharply (approx. VS -3000). It is as if the airplane is being pulled down by something like a magnet. I also have the problem that the airspeed indicator stays at 30 even if I go much faster on takeoff. I have attached a screenshot of what it looks like in the cockpit after the plane crash. Please help me.

Check the trim wheel is set correctly for your CG. I have seen it set trimmed considerably nose down before.

by default, the plane is in trim nose down state when it spawns.

setting your trim for take off is part of the checklist and should always be set before take off.

this is not a bug - but rather a user error.

If you don’t set your trim to at least +0.0-+0.3, then the plane will always want to nosedive and require a large amount of physical force just to get airborne.

The plane will (generally) lift off if at least at 0.0 easily - but it’s also recommended to do some research on how to set the correct trim value for your CG ( the FMS can help you work this out ). But if you unsure, just use +0.3 as good “usually good” take off trim.

Any airliner being flown by hand at any time requires constant trim adjustments to remain flyable when AP is not yet engaged.

And if you exceed AOA, - while AP IS OFF during hand flying - MCAS can potentially also kick in and trim nose down until manual trim interrupts it.

Ensure you are setting your trim, and using it regularly - and you will find the 737 does not nosedive.

Additionally, after setting trim, it’s also a good idea to hold the nose down on the runway until you reach V1 or the Rotate callout - and if trimmed correctly - the plane will basically want to take off by itself. once you have positive rate - maintain your trim to hold a 5-10 degree nose up climb until you are able to engage your Autopilot.

If auto throttle is on, what speed do you have set in the autopilot? The default is 100knts but you need to dial in V2 + 15knts.

This is my personal procedure, not explicitly checklist since it can vary per company anyways IRL.
Once you get a good flow going, obviously tweak as needed to fly safely in your own company/career.

Before Take Off:

  • Ensure FMS Perf and Take-Off page is setup.

  • Set 200 in AP for AT speed.

  • Arm AT ( wont engage until airborne )

  • FMS VNAV page, have 240 typed in ready to set

  • Trim Set

  • Set HDG to Runway Heading

  • Set Cruise Alt

  • Set Flaps ( for me its either 5 or 15 )

  • turn on Flight Directors on AP

  • turn on LNAV, VNAV and VS

  • set VS to +1000

    • ( VNAV, VS, LNAV and HDG will all be lit up on AP panel )
  • Request Take Off Clearance

  • Set Baro from ATC T/O clearance

  • Take Off - nose down until V1/VR ( keep nose wheel grounded until rotate callout )

After Take Off

  • Gear Up
  • Hold 10 degrees nose up until 400ft AGL
  • Engage AP
  • If 15 flaps - reduce flaps to 5 when above 180
  • when VNAV engages - set 240 in FMS->VNAV->CLB page.
  • when speed reaches 220 - retract flaps ( up indicator on speed tape )
  • set Baro to STD
  • Ensure PACKS to AUTO
  • Ensure Engine Bleeds for 1,2 are ON.

in case it helps ( yeah - I forgot to set IRS to nav. ignore that bit ).

I do look t my switches alot because im doing everything from memory - and there will alwys be something you forget.

Did you complete the walk around? That sounds like pitot and static covers?

Hi @SiggiYT ,

Thank you for this report. We’ve moved your topic into the User Support Hub.

The Bug Reporting Hub is for posting suspected or confirmed bugs that other users are able to reproduce without duplicating an existing bug report. Using the template or providing all the relevant information about your bug and sim setup is required in order to provide valuable information, feedback, and replication steps to our test team.

If you are not sure if your issue is a bug or need further input from the community, please use the User Support Hub category. If the community can replicate your issue, first search the Bug category to see if there’s an existing topic. If it already exists, contribute to that report. Duplicate bug reports will be closed.

If you believe it is a new report and no duplicate exists, then create a new bug topic using the provided topic template.

All issues caused by or involving third-party addons/mods should be reported to the third-party developer. Assure that no addons/mods are used when reporting issues in Bug Reports.

In career there wont be any of this.
but in free flight this is true.

But besides just the static covers - also check icing switches in cold conditions.

Many thanks for all the answers. It was because I had trimmed the plane incorrectly or not at all before. Now everything works and I can fly well with this airplane.

good to hear

I’m always learning something new, even as a long-time but fairly amateur simmer!

I use a lot of assistances - so does the trim setting still apply if I have it set to AI/autotrim? My take off is fine but I notice after maybe 18k altitude I have to ascend a lot slower (maybe sub-2k V/S), and getting up to 25k+ I need to cruise for a little bit then continue…
