ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
ATC said “Airport is IFR, takeoff is not authorized” when requesting to taxi at airport, but the airport is obviously VFR and looked like the normal career “few clouds” VFR preset I have seen throughout many missions. This was a flightseeing mission out of KTVL. I had to request IFR clearance to be able to taxi (and complete that part of the objective chain, and once in the air I was able to cancel IFR and then later return even though ATC did not authorize me to land. Obviously very immersion breaking, and could cause others to not be able to complete the mission.

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
This has only happened once at KTVL, VFR career weather, not a live weather mission.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Load into a mission at KTVL where weather says “VFR”, not a live weather mission. (maybe it has to be flightseeing?)
  2. Maybe ATC will say the airport is IFR and not allow taxi?

• Same here, first flight with passengers loaded in career after passing ppl. I ask for permission as instructed and informed that flight is deniec because its ifr. I can’t continue so have to abort. I reset career but it happens every time.

Workaround is to just go through with requesting IFR clearance, get clearance to taxi IFR, takeoff, and then cancel IFR

I had this exact issue on my first helicopter private charter mission. It was clearly VFR conditions, and even the mission brief showed VFR at both departure and destination. However I had no option on the comm menu to request IFR, so I just took off and got a penalty for it.

I have the same issue, trying to fly out of Redhill and my request is denied, i hope this issue get resolved as im not knowledgeable about the different flight plans, they should give you a option, (1) for people who know what to do and (2) for the people new to all this like myself and others who dont and you choose which option you want before starting your career

• No extra information. I just cannot proceed with my career and I guess will have to restart it. Luckily it’s only the second mission

• There is no required step. Some Airports are IFR, even if conditions are clearly VFR. Without IFR-License you won’t be able to start or finish a mission.

Airports in my case:
EKYT - Aalborg (start for a sightseeing trip, own company)
EDDS - land for a shuttle mission

• No extra information. Missions need to be canceled or accept a major hit in reputation because of IFR infridgements.

I tried to do sky advertising mission, but I can’t get past “Request taxi”. Control says airport is currently only IFR and it denies my request, despite clear weather. Mission overview states I should wait for taxi clearence regardless, while nothing happens

How does one request IFR clearance?

I suppose you need to be able to use the toolbar or the EFB, so that ■■■■ ain’t gonna work in this buggy abortion of a game.

Might just try that. Can add it to the other stupid penalties i get :slight_smile:

So I believe the way it works now is that you do have to use the EFB. The flightplan should already be loaded in the EFB on the route page though so you just have to go to the bottom of that page and click “File Flight Plan with ATC”.

Then in the ATC window you choose the option to Request Instrument Flight Plan. FYI in career mode this option should be available without needing to do the above step, because the career mission will already have the flightplan ready to go in the EFB.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue: Starting first mission at home airport KTIW, after starting up and requesting taxi clearance, ATC says “TJI5013, Ground, airport is currently IFR. Request denied.” In addition, if I continue to fly, I get pilot performance deductions for going above altitude 400, but message says to climb to 800. Then I get another pilot performance deduction for going over IFR speed.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue: Cessna 172 Skyhawk

REPRODUCTION STEPS
Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

I have to open communication menu, then click on request IFR clearance.
Then is says: " TJI5013, is cleared to Tacoma airport as filed, expect runway 17, maintain 400 ft.
Click on readback, then it says to contact ground on 121.8 when ready to taxi.
Once I talk to ground, it says Taxi to and hold short runway 17 via taxiway.

Hello, I have not seen this bug happen again since I have moved past the flightseeing missions and onto the other mission types. I’m not sure if the bug was tied to that mission type or any preset weather that came along with it, but I have not encountered the issue again since I posted this bug report.

Thank you. I am unable to get to ATC window. Toolbar does not show up in career mode for me? Just the career generated instructions.

Is this normal? I thought this was normal.

That’s not normal, the ATC menu should be in the toolbar. You can also by default press “\” (backslash) to open it.

VR toolbar issues abound, and MS are not even planning to address them for months according to their last bug fix schedule.

However, my toolbar is semi-functional and I was able to get the toolbar and do some things in ATC in career mode! Things are slowly improving.
