Apparently this will be released within the next couple of months:
The sound might still need a bit of work, from what I hear at the beginning of the video. The clip at the end sounds pretty good, though. It’s going to be interesting how this will compare to the MilViz one, when it comes out eventually.
I believe Toag’s Hangar and Blackbird are the only developers of note working on a Bell 205/UH-1 for MSFS. They are taking different approaches as Taog’s uses the native CFD physics for flight dynamics and Blackbird’s flight model will be full custom code like HPG or FlyInside.
That’s another project that Milviz/Blackbird can now scratch.
I have the Alouette from Taog’s and I’m confident this will be as good as whatever Blackbird was doing or better. And will be released a couple of years earlier.
Love the alouette, but its far from perfect, so hopefully they get this flying better, and fix the alouette.
I am hoping the Lama gets released soon also!
lol Bro you gotta cut Bkackbird some slack. They’re the only dev making all custom code DCS level military stuff for MSFS, and we know how long it takes to publish anything for DCS.
At least we will get to see the fruits of their military contracts, like the UH-1H, which they are open about whereas A2A keeps all that secret with no apparent intentions of bringing any of it over.
Very true. Options are always a good thing and high quality takes more time. It took A2A almost 3 years to bring the Comanche to MSFS. Let’s not forget that.
I am quietly expecting this one to set the new standard for helicopter modeling in the sim. It is a special project for a very talented and passionate developer that is highly critical of their own work. I have a feeling that this one is going to feel very real in the sim.
Excellent! The Huey along with Bell 206 are the quintessential helicopters. When someone says “helicopter” one of those two is what I picture in my head first. Can’t wait to have the duo complete.
You’re right, I think: the livery I saw was posted five hours ago so my first thought was that it would be for the new Huey by someone who had early access, but it’s described as ‘A community requested repaint of Taog44’s UH-1H Huey Iroquois’ so it probably is for the freeware Huey, even if that itself is no longer available.
