It’s either too powerful or too light in ‘24. On the ground throttled up moving the collective rocks it all over the place and it’s way too fast in flight. You need a fraction of collective.
I tailor the Collective control sensitivity for each helicopter as I like to have fine control around the hover IGE point. I don’t remember what the Huey curve looks like but I do agree you never get anywhere close to full collective or suffer the consequences.
I generally like the way it flies though. Inertia/momentum wise I’d put it between the 407 and the Chinook so that makes sense to me.
It’s a blast to fly in 2024, hugely powerful and fast, goes over the mountains with ease. I’ve got no experience with the real helicopter, so I don’t know if this most recent version is ‘over powered’ or not. But I agree with the other posters that have said you barely need any collective. It’s also quite happy to roll over if you get too fast in the descent so there are balances to its obvious abilities.
It would be a shame to see it get the ‘nerf bat’ as it flies better than most of the other choppers in MSFS. But I realise that flight model accuracy is very important to many users of the sim.
Rolling over when you get too fast is called Retreating Blade Stall or RBS. This is a real world issue for helicopters if you go too fast and Taog has deliberately modelled this behaviour.
In the Huey’s case the rotor spins ACW when viewed from above meaning the blades on the LHS are the retreating blades so the a/c rolls to the left as the blades on the RHS are still producing lift.
Taog has also modelled Vortex Ring State or VRS so watch out if descending too fast with little forward speed.
yep…exactly this.
All of the helicopters are over powered in MSFS2024. I’m not sure if it’s the changes in the FM or engine parameters. It’s been noted by most of the helicopter devs that I have talked to.
You can go a little further into understanding RBS by reading the handbook from the FAA. Gyroscopic precession causes the reaction to happen 90° after the input, so RBS first causes a pitch up and heavy vibration. If you ignore this and keep pushing the forward airspeed you will induce a roll, usually to the direction of the blade rotation. It depends on the rotor system. In a 2-bladed teetering rotor, this can lead to the disk becoming unloaded, and mast bumping will occur, followed shortly by the departure of the blades from the helicopter.
If you are cruising along and you start to get an un-commanded pitch up, slow down or suffer the consequences.
Hi!
In 2024 i have issue that after some minutes i get XMSN oil hot and low oil pressure. What causes that?
Shouldn’t be an FS2024 issue. Just make sure that you don’t go past the red line on the Torque Pressure gauge (to the left of the Radar Altimeter) for more than a couple of seconds. Also make sure that the throttle is rolled up all the to 100% or the Torque Pressure will be a lot higher than normal, making it easier to red line it.
There should a an update out on xbox for 2020, but mine says updated although its not.
Do I need to delete and download again?
Edit: redownloaded but same version, and I was wrong about it saying its the wrong version, I was confused by the latest gameversion 1.38.2 that it says.
But I still have not downloaded or found any newer firmware. Do anybody know what is the latest version? I have 1.2.1
I’m on PC and downloaded it direct from FS.to, and version in manifest.json still says 1.2.0 on the updated downloaded version 1.2.1. It confused me yesterday.
Hi, I have a question.
I’m using the Marketplace version of the UH-1 in MSFS2024, the same model and livery, and I’ve set up a separate key configuration for it. However, every time I restart MSFS, the key configuration for the UH-1 resets to the default MSFS settings, and I have to search for the UH-1 configuration again among multiple custom settings. I haven’t encountered this issue with other aircraft, as their settings stay unchanged.
My question is: Did I set something incorrectly? Or is this just how this aircraft model behaves in MSFS2024 for now?
No
This happens for every aircraft - for PC users. It looks like you might be on Xbox, so some of what follows might be helpful. The MSFS controls interface is specifically designed to make trying to play the game as frustraing as possible. (IMO)
If you hot start on the runway, you might not notice your keybinds have been reset or changed. If you cold start on the ramp, you’ll know the keyboard profile has changed because you won’t be able to enter the aircraft (Shift+C) or press Esc to bring up the main menu.
If this happens, use your mouse to open the Controls menu from the in game toolbar and select the ‘gamepad looking’ icon to open the Controls menu. You can correct/change the keyboard profile from there.
Do not use/press ‘Apply to all aircraft’, your game is likely to CTD. (At least on my system)
Note: At least on my system, you’ll still have to wait the 30 second penalty for trying to play MSFS while the game searches for profiles on each click. Althogh, once you’ve sucessfully corrected the controller profile, launched into a flight, and then sucsessfully exited the game, 2024 does seem to remember your profile setting for that addon.
I tried setting it up on the GotFriends Mini500, which I also inherited from MSFS2020, and restarted the MSFS2024, and the game remembered the profile I chose. However, the game can’t remember the configuration file of Taog’s UH-1, and it takes 8 seconds to switch profiles every time, and tens of seconds to select several peripherals.
I’m avoiding using ‘Apply to all aircraft’, and even removing the config makes me CTD.
This is a very annoying and known bug in MSFS2024.
It’s not specific to the Huey.
The good news is, that the issue is much improved in SUb3.
Only a few seconds between profile clicks and selections stick 98% of the time. I’ve only had some reset when new beta builds install.
After the ban of combustion engines only retrofitted Hueys with an electric engine are allowed to enter environmental zones to drop supplies for the few remaining 1 Euro stores.
this is how you play scavenger hunt bingo
I’m waiting for them to release the official version of SU3 and try again to see if there are any problems
Is the Huey worth buying for msfs 2024? I’m a little worried about the flight model. Is it realistic on 2024?
I think it’s worth buying - I’m no helicopter expert at all, but the model looks nice, and flying it ‘feels good’, to me. My only remark is that I’m having to use ‘Medium’ texture settings on MSFS2024 (due to the VRAM issues), and the cockpit texturing is quite … er … rough on the eyes. And to be honest, i don’t think it was ever top notch, even in 2020 or higher texture settings. But that’s just my opinion. If that doesn’t bother you, I’d recommend it.
