Task/tool bar

Hello all, Im new to gaming/sim and have been looking around this site for a few weeks now. Not sure if this is the correct place for this question. Can someone steer me into the proper direction about using the task bar while flying. I’d like to know how to use the map and nav while flying to get to another destination. Let’s say Im flying from A to B but want to divert to somewhere else. How do I find the exact runway heading for example at the location? Thank you in advance. So far the limited flying has been performed in the Cessna 152 only. Again thanks.

On the World map when you select an airport it will show detailed information about it. There are also a lot of stand alone flight planning apps that will show the actual charts for the selected airport. Also depends on what aircraft you are using as the GPS is quite comprehensive on the information that it can provide you. Best bet would be to watch some you tube videos as flight planning can be quite complex for beginners.

Hi @IFLY4290
In a basic plane like the 152, there’s a bit more manual work than in the more advanced avionics you may want to upgrade to sometime as you get more familiar with the sim. But for now, given the 152, in your case, you can open the VFR map (either using the map icon on the bar that opens at the top of the screen, or the default key “v”. Once you’ve opened the map, click on the airport icon on the map that you want to go to and it will give you the coordinates for it, the altitude that airport is above sea level, and the headings (+/- 5 degrees) of the runway(s) and what type runway it is (grass, dirt, asphalt, etc), and the length of each runway. Unfortunately, it doesn’t give you a heading to that airport. So in the 152, you’ll either have to guesstimate the course to that airport, or use an outside source to get an accurate course. You can also use the ATC icon (or key) to contact the airport (using the “nearest airport list”) you want (if in range) and ask for a landing. They’ll normally clear you for a specific runway, and after that you should have an option to request the direction to the airport.
Hopefully that gives you some options to use right now to divert to another airport in the 152.
Regards

Thank you, both gave good info for me to explore.
