TAT Inversion While @ Cruise

Hello All -

Posting here as I haven’t been able to find answers anywhere else.

Since the SU3 update, while at cruise I have been having, random, but severe TAT inversions leading to a decrease/increase in altitude and airspeed. It occurs at random points during my cruise, last around 2-3 seconds, and then goes back to normal. It almost seems like the weather updates, but this isn’t something that I’ve dealt with in the sim prior to SU3.

The screenshots tell the story. I’m at FL400, the TAT goes from -23C to +26C then back to -24C.

Curious on your thoughts!

I’ve done some further investigation, and I believe it to be something related to the “24 Hour Live Weather”. If I adjust the slider back a minute the same occurrence will happen. Is the sim losing track of the weather randomly? Again, I’ve never had this issue before SU3.

I’ll get a TAT inversion, altitude will go all wonky, and the airspeed will drop significantly. This only occurs for 2-3 seconds before it rights itself back to normal.

Thoughts?

Couple years back in 2020-land there was a quite regular problem with live weather breaking with wildly too high temperatures leading to absolute havoc on jet aircraft performance. Hope it’s not back!

I’ve found that it’s something related to the 24-hour weather. If I use customer weather but set real time and “live weather” within the custom format, I haven’t gotten the issue.

I’m not sure if it’s just an oddity with my system or a more widespread issue. I wouldn’t know how to troubleshoot it any further.
