Taxi ribbons and landing guides combined switch

Am I the only one who want taxi ribbons but not landing guides? I can only find one single switch for both. Is there a way that saves me from having to switch on and off for every taxi run?

I would love this. I hate the enormous red brackets floating in the sky.

But without the taxi guides, it’s basically impossible to find your gate or parking area.

Actually, landing guides and taxi ribbons have always been separate.

Taxi Ribbons are located in Assistance Settings under Navigation Aids. It’s called Taxi Ribbon, turn that on. And look for another entry called Landing Assist/guide and turn that off.

As a matter of fact. The best and quickest way to get this is by Changing the Assistance preset to “True to Life”. Then make sure all the sub-entries are set to Hard. This will turn off All the assists which will also help declutter your screen while also avoiding the sim’s “Assistance” engine to interfere with your aircraft systems.

Then open “Navigation Aids” category, and look for the Taxi Ribbon entry. Turn this ON. And that’s it. You would still have a decluttered UI with no other assistance, but you still have a Taxi Ribbon visible.

Feel free to use this mod, to make the taxi ribbon more subtle and blends well like a taxiway centre light.

The in-flight assistance menu (top toolbar) setting is for “both” or “neither” which is what I always use. Thanks for the tip, I’ll look for the specific settings in the detailed assistance menus.

I use the subtle taxi ribbons. Much less intrusive and I like them. As a side note, I have the “green” color settings but sometimes they still appear blue. Not sure why that happens (although it’s rare).

Yeah, I only use the in-flight assistance menu for ATC handling. Everything else I always keep it off. If you manage it from the Pause Options → Assistance settings. The Taxi ribbon that gets turned on will always stay on. even if the in-flight assistance menu are all off.

The ribbon could sometime appear blue when there’s a transition in lighting, like during sunset or sunrise where it starts to render green, then there’s a change in ambient sunlight and it kinda renders it into blue. something to do with the yellow sunlight change that affects it, I think.

Usually turning off the taxi ribbon and turning it on again would restore the green colour.

The Topic is about the MSFS Taxi ribbon. Someone commented that it’s impossible to find a parking spot without it on. I was responding to the topic by pointing out that that statement is in fact incorrect. I didn’t realise the code of conduct said not to reply when you think someone is wrong. Very disappointing.

It’s about the “how to reply” not about “what to reply”. You can convey the same message by saying:

“Actually, you can still find the parking spot without the taxi ribbon. for example, by looking at the ATC message logs to match the taxiway signs and taxi according to the instructions and looking for the taxiway to turn and navigate to. Or you can also just pick any gate that’s empty and shut down your engine there.”

So you can still convey the same message that they’re wrong, but you convey the same message in a much more constructive manner that doesn’t sound condescending.

Folks, as posted above remain on topic and cut out the back and fourth.

No, you are not  This bugs me every time during the approach when the landing guide pops up to remind me I forgot to flip the switch.

Thanks for this mod, I love it, been using it for a while now. So, you are saying, with you mod, when in the assistance options the taxi ribbon is turned on and landing path off, there is no need to use the flight assistance switch at all?

That’s right. I keep all my flight assistance off (except for ATC Assist). And as long as you set the taxi ribbon on and landing path off in the Assistance options. It will always appear when you are cleared for a taxi. (whether you use my mod or not)

Now I feel stupid… I have never trusted that the ribbon appears if I have the switch off in the toolbar flight assistance menu… tried it for the first time and there it was, exactly as expected!

Ok the aids in the Assistance menu is indeed separated. Thanks. Still think the functions should not be under a combined switch in the Flight Assistant popup.
