Hi again, another newbie question. I am getting the hang of using the Check List and the ATC panel to get my C152 started, then ask for a pushback, and taxi and then request for take off. I’m trying to dot all my i’s and cross all my t’s, but after having been cleared to take off (which I ack’ed) I still get the warning banner “20 Knots Taxi Speed Exceeded”.
Again, vanilla pc setup, and I’ve turned off AI assist for most everything I think. Even tho I see the warning banner I just accelerate and take off anyway with no problems. Any idea why this is happening? (I am following the blue runway indicators so I’m sure I’m on the right runway [there’s only 1 at Kerry Ireland] and I’m pointing in the right direction!)
I don’t use the in game ATC so I can’t say for sure, is it possible it still thinks you are taxing because you are not lined up on center / closer to center before starting to take off?
You can hide the notification from the Options → Assistance. Under either Piloting or Navigation Objectives. Or you can just set everything Hard/True to Life. That should solve the 20 knots taxi speed limit exceeded message from appearing.
Between the takeoff clearance, and the compass heading in the second screen, you’re taking off from the wrong runway so the it hasn’t switched the tooltips over to takeoff mode.
D’Oh! @Raynen you have sharp eyes to see the compass heading and figure out that I was indeed on runway 8 of Kerry EIKY and pointing east when I had asked ATC for a takeoff to the west.
Sadly tho, I tried again, this time taxiing to the start of 26 and I still get the ‘taxi speed exceeded’ banner. See below…
Maybe I’ll just turn off the notifications as @Neo4316 suggested.
In more detail, I’m at Kerry’s EIKY airport doing a cold and dark start. I’m using the Checklist to get things going and I’m pretty sure I’m doing it in order (?). If I want to take off from 26 heading west, there is only one entry ramp - taxiway A. What I’ve been doing is after having recv’d a pushback I tell ATC I’m ready for departure and ask to depart to the west.
ATC tells me to taxi to “Taxi to and hold short of runway 26 using taxiway A. Contact tower…when ready”. So I taxi to taxiway A, tell ATC I’m ready for a west departure and they give me clearance.
Then I go on the runway and taxi way all the way the heck to the far end where 26 starts. Interestingly the blue banner taxi arrows end as soon as I get on the runway, instead of leading me all the way to the end. When I get to the end I turn around, I apply the throttle (tried either just manually on my quadrant, or another time using the Checklist item to go full throttle). Then take off but I still get the taxi speed exceeded banner. Am I doing something out of order?
Yeah I think I’m just going to turn off notifications.
