Taxiway markings

Hi!

I am having some trouble with the taxiway markings file provided by Asobo. I am trying to edit the textures and customize them for an airport I am working on, but the file only loads as a black square in photoshop. I found the file via a youtube video tutorial, and everything is fine except i can’t actually open the file to edit it and add my own modifications. Has anyone been able to open the file using photoshop?

Thanks

I’m assuming you’re trying to load the DDS file? Do you have a DDS plug-in installed in Photoshop? Try Nvidia Texture Tools. There are others.

try opening with GIMP. Also, are you talking about the taxiway/ runway markings on the ground / tarmac ? Id like to work on those too. Where can i find this file that Asobo provides ? thanks

I do have the nvidia plugin installed for .dds, but i still get a black box

I will try GIMP, thank you. Here is the video that goves the location of the file. https://youtu.be/bz5VfVs17xo

I don’t recall this happening with me. I used the ASO_TAXIWAY_MARKS
DDS file and saved it as a PSD file to use as a template. What file are you trying to mod?

Same file, and the weird part is that other files frok that same folder open without issues

So i Tired with GIMP, and i get an error stating that the format is unsupported. I’m at a loss now, any ideas?

It’s possible in your attempts to edit it, you corrupted it. Have you tried using the DXTBMP program? It’s a free downloadable tool you can find on the internet. Otherwise, you might want to try repairing your installation, to get the file back.

I have tried DXTBMP, and i have not tried to edit it yet, I just have not been able to open it at all. I really can;t think of any reason for it not to work

Just tried it myself. Yeah, it doesn’t open in DXTBMP for me either. I tried to open it in GIMP, and it failed, with a “Unsupported DXGI format (98)” error.

I was able to open it with Paint.net. I think when people say they used paint, they mean Paint.net, which is actually a completely different application from the default application that comes with Windows. You have to search for and download it.

Edit: I just fixed the links to the Paint.net application.

ok thanks, let me give ti a try.

How old is you Nvidia Plug-in? Mine was a couple of years old and showed the same behavior you described, but replacing it with a new version solved the problem for me.
