Taxiway Navigation, I need my eyes checked

I’m surprised I can find the taxiways that I do, I can barely make out the signage without zooming in or driving as close as possible to each one. I’m unsure of what button on the joystick is used to turn on the aid, is it the target button on my yoke?
Really the big problem is the signage, can’t imagine what it would be like in something bigger than a Cessna.

Other than inaccuracies, the signage is often too small, and only written on one side, so you very often see an empty yellow sign.

At night, they are also hard to read due to glare.

I’m struggling with the same as well. Taxiway signs are really hard to make out from the cockpit while the airplane is in motion. It’s bad enough that many airports have totally random taxiway lettering that doesn’t match your real world charts, but it’s hard to follow ATC instructions when I try without the taxi ribbon.

There have been many real-life accidents in aviation that were indeed directly related to improper or poor taxiway markings and signage. One infamous one I accidentally recreated was a departure from Ky. Bluegrass where two runways begin at the same point on the airfield. That is where many people lost their lives when a commuter tried to take off on runway 14 which was considerably too short for the aircraft.
So prep your virtual flight bag to include airport diagrams of your destination and departure airports.

Thank you. I’ve read from numerous people here who taxi just based on the ground instructions and that always seems like magic to me. Even assuming I can decipher the aerodrome chart (and it matches what MSFS has), I would have to pause at every single yellow sign and zoom myself silly or take the drone cam out there.

I would love a little plugin that just pops up little windows zoomed in on the signs I’m passing or something. I haven’t taxied in an airliner myself but I imagine turning your head for a second to read it is far easier than using the mouse.

PS. I voted on this. Reading the subject line again, does this mean I have to pay for your optometrist appointment?

I am due, thanks!

Thanks, that is what noted was the ‘virtual glare’.
It’s almost like JJ Abrams got the contract for the signage.

Yes I agree the taxiway signs are a mess, can’t read them.
Only way to find out where I need to go is to turn on those horrendously ugly blue chevrons.
If you want a few taxiway signs to look at though, try St Just airstrip in Cornwall UK (EGHC).
I reported this via Zendesk and after a few days it showed as fixed but it clearly isn’t.
Taxiway sign Junkyard

What I normally get is an email telling me that my ticket has been closed because a patch has been released.

Not that it’s fixed, just closed on the off chance that the patch fixed it. It’s a terrible way to run a help desk.

Zendesk?

i gave them a list of bugs, no wipers, low bandwidth, etc, and all they answered me was you can have a list of main issues on our site XD

“Solved” only means they’ve added it to their internal bug tracker (it’s in their FAQ). You’ll get no notification when (if) they fix it. It’s terrible (especially for people who haven’t been able to even install the game for weeks), but I cannot imagine how anyone would go about replying to every single bug report for a million users.

Yeah, I mentioned this in another thread, I think. The combination of lots of us, plus the free text nature of the subject line, and even the free text “which aircraft does this affect” line, means it would be hard to aggregate similar issues in to one. Why is the aircraft line not a drop down box, or even multi-select drop down? That in itself would help.

Lots of conversation on the signage
Until it’s fixed
How do you turn on taxiway Navigation? I found a way of finding my next turn using the Command Look button on my yoke. Isn’t there also a ribbon of chevrons that tell you before you get to the turn. Pranged my wing since command look starts to turn when you’re right at the turn. (was going a bit fast)
The more I read up, there is supposed to be a ribbon of chevrons like in the venerable previous MSFS’

I know it’s crazy talk to compare previous versions of FS against this one. ACES had a couple of iterations of development prior to Asobo. Aerosoft can’t even carry over some of their previous work for the Twotter (i.e. Twin Otter), this version is essentially V.1. Sure some of the key binding have changed but many are totally new.
