Taxiway ribbon not working

I am having an issue of the taxiway ribbon not working sometimes. Works most times on first flight after starting up system, but seems that with a second or later flight it does not work. Most recently flying the CJ4 on Steam. I also am using stock ATC. I looked on MSFS Forum and did not find anything definitive. Any suggestions to resolve will be appreciated.

This has been happening to me too for ages. Occasionally it works but mostly not.

I use Pilot2ATC and I have the in game ATC disabled (not the taxiway ribbon though) so I thought it was something to do with this. I find it strange though sometimes I get the ribbon and sometimes I don’t.

I wondered also if it was something to do with the airports themselves and whether they modelled taxiways. For the record I mainly use Asobo airports, no freeware ones and only have a couple or so payware ones. Also I always start a flight with a flight plan using sometimes P2ATC, Simbrief or manual entry into the GTN or FMS.

Currently I am spending a lot of time in the JF BAE 146 and set up the flight plan in the UNS and set up the destination and arrival runways too. I never seem to get the taxiway ribbons here either.

It is something which I haven’t worked out but equally I haven’t spent any time trying to sort it out either. I just kind of live with it now ignorant of why there are inconsistencies.

I find the ribbon a bit inconsistent, as well.

Interestingly, depending on which parking spot I choose to start from at KHWD I will either get or will not get a taxi ribbon to the departing runway.

Selecting a parking spot amongst the large cluster of them at the northern end of the airport and the ribbon appears. Select a parking spot from one of the southern spaces and it doesn’t.

  1. Check your assistance setting. Make sure taxi ribbon is turned on. MSFS sometimes turn it off intermittently. So it’s good to double and triple check.

  2. Taxi ribbon only works when you use the default MSFS ATC. If you use other ATC systems or VATSIM, they won’t work.

  3. Most airports would work. The only time the taxi ribbon doesn’t work is if the airport developer forgot to define the taxiway path lanes when making the airport, but this is rare since it’s a basic 101 procedure for making an airport.

The taxi ribbon has always been inconsistent. I’ve noticed it seems to fail most often after landing and taxiing to parking and then shutting down. After a few minutes, restarting and requesting taxi to the active. Sometimes only the last couple of arrows will show up at the runway.

Doing a sequence of airports in a similar way it’ll work on some, then fail and then start to work again.

I experience this most often on GA flights at smaller deafault airfields but sometimes at larger default airports with A310 etc. I only have access to MSFS ATC as I’m on Xbox.

From my observations it has nothing to do with assistance settings, other ATC systems or third party airports/airfields.
