TBM: HSI showing incorrect nav direction?

Flight from KSNA to KSEE; magenta line on map view is correct, but HSI is pointing to… something else

I haven’t flown the TBM much but assume I didn’t make any major mistakes, but also figured the HSI would auto-align toward the field to the south… ?

You’re in heading mode on the autopilot, heading set to 133. The flight plan has direct 016 to your next waypoint, but you have to be in NAV mode to follow the flight plan. So everything is correct. Just hit NAV and voilard, as they say in Alabama.

PS I also suspect your HSI is off somehow give that the difference between direct and HDG is 110 degrees but your airplane is pointing in roughly the same direction as the magenta line. Also, make sure you get the WorkingTitle G3000 mod for the TBM. It’s amazing.

I’m somewhat competent in the TBM if you want to see a full flight.

Hi - thanks - I have the Working Title mod, and only took this shot after trying a bunch of stuff… The only waypoint was KSEE. Flight Plan showed no other waypoints. In this case it seems NAV wants a waypoint to the north… somewhere…

On the PFD you can see → KSEE, and I assumed this meant it was the active waypoint, since with additional waypoints in the plan (such as an approach) the GPS typically shows the next waypoint in the sequence.

Thanks!

Do you happen to know of a POH that’s relatively accurate with the TBM + the Working Title mod?

Not sure how long you’ve been in heading mode, but the HSI is set to FMS, so it’s trying to get you to the first waypoint on the FMS flight plan, which is your point of origin it seems. Change your CDI to nav and it will head the right way.

Thanks - Interesting - I couldn’t get it into NAV. I’ll restart & try it again.

Ok - the only way I could get this to work was to use Direct to KSEE.

I can’t seem to find the setting to change the CDI to nav; rather, Active Nav cycles between VOR1, VOR2, and FMS.

What am I missing here?

thanks!

Sorry, I just saw you’ve got the mod loaded. I’m not sure with the mod you can change from FMS to nav (since FMS is your nav mode in reality). I’m not sure if you need to set up a departure (either in-sim one or create one) for the FMS to get you going so it doesn’t want to fly over your departure airport as it’s first waypoint. My recommendation would be to check out either the WT page/discord and the WT3000 thread in the forum for more specific information. Sorry I can’t be more specific.

I thought they said: “Viola” ?
What is Voilard ? I am in Pensacola, Fl, Right next door to Gulf Shores AL and never heard that term.

I appreciate the help! I have a direction to check out now.

Indeed something fishy about that image you posted. Did you look through the flightplan for clues. The HSI needle should be pointing south-east.

nothing wrong here to be honest. right now you told your airplane fly from point A to point B. So it wants you to fly to point A then to B. since you are already enroute to B it does not make sense “tactical wise” to fly to point A, IRL you just hit “direct to” and choose point B. Some Autopilots need to be within a certain corridor of their Navigation to be activated. Right now you are over 50NM away of Point A (which is the activ Waypoint) and a XrossTrackdistance (away from the drawn naviagtionline) of over 11NM.

KSNA is the origin. The HSI needle points to the destination of the next waypoint which is south-east, so this is not correct.

Moved to #self-service:aircraft-systems

It doesn’t appear the G3000 Mod is installed or properly enabled. On the PFD, you are missing the Green Velocity Vector icon, which is unique to the Mod versus stock Asobo G3000.

Thanks - is there a way to check? Maybe just re-install?

Currently, I have the “workingtitle-g3000” and “workingtitle-g3000-roaddata” folders in my Community folder.

That path is correct. Maybe re-download from Working Title Aero site and re-install? Try only the G3000 for now, Roaddata is a memory hog.

Re-installed, I get the green vector now. I’ll have to test out navigation again soon!

thanks
