Yes, I always check before activating AP.
I have this problem too. Just when in VR. In 2D the AP works normally but when I switch to VR something happens to the APMaster. A while ago I had a conversation with the devs but they don’t use VR and we were not able to solve the problem. This is the only plane that has this issue for me and I fly a lot of different planes and helos. Mucho frustrating cause I do like the 2012 otherwise.
I appreciate your response - at least now I know to get into VR only once I activate AP. Thanks!
I use the Reverb G2. What headset are you using?
Same here.
I really wish this plane had a way to track the temperature inside. Maybe it does and I’m just unaware of it but, it has actual seemingly simulated climate control features that I can’t monitor. I guess I’m spoiled by blacksquares planes giving my OCD something to fiddle with whilst flying. It’s not make or break for me, love the plane, I just wish I could monitor my cabin temp as I climb, or fly in cold/hot areas and adjust accordingly to keep my surely “why is this person allowed to fly!” passengers atleast, temperature wise, comfortable.
I just set everything to some sort of medium. Need the MSR500’s emoji’s in the EFB-they’re so needy!
The best cabin temp solution I’ve used is the WB-sim RGB led implementation. It’s easy to glance at and get a sense of the temperature without having to mess with a tablet or some other interface.
Can you add more information on how you solved it? what is WB-sim? thx.
WB-sim are the developers of a C172 add-on that uses a nice implementation of cabin temperature feedback. The P2012 would need some similar implementation by its devs. Just commenting that its one of the nicest solutions to this problem I’ve used. I suppose if the simulated cabin temperature was exposed as a sim variable then one could implement and external solution based on that number. Haven’t checked to see if the temp value is exposed or even modelled on the P2012.
Well that is one way to get rid of your competitors!
Reminds me of the French guy that ate an actual C172 lol
Yes, it would be a really great addition…
Lol. Whose idea was the QWERTY keyboard. Now corrected.
Is VNAV not working on this? I’ve got tons of time with the G1000 but can not get this aircraft to get a descent profile adding any type of approach, even straight visual, it just keeps the cruise altitude all the way down the flight plan. Even when I manually enter all altitudes down to the runway altitude itself it just refuses to ‘do the math’. I end up doing a manual decent every single time. It will capture the localizer when I get it there. Every other single G1000 will simply do what it’s supposed to do with a 3 degree decent automatically(if equipped). I get the indicated VNAV markers and can keep it within 100’ deviation no problem, but I imagine this is supposed to have more capability than a C172.
It’s been like 10 flights now and I can not for the life of me get this thing to manage a VNAV profile. I’m going to try uninstall/reinstall, but took the FSR500 out to the Bahamas right after that and everything was right as rain.
I was able to use VNAV in the last few flights I did with the P2012. I don’t think I had to do anything special besides select the arrival or approach I wanted, but it has been a couple weeks now. I adjusted the desired VNAV descent angle to yield roughly 500-600fpm in the descent and it seemed to work fine. VPTH wouldn’t arm until I lowered the selected altitude though.
That would be normal to drop the altitude setting before TOD. Mine just doesn’t do anything. Probably a goofy re-installation. Just wanted to make sure it worked for someone.
Why is everyone so worried about VNAV?
To me my enjoyment of flight has always flying, not simply turning on AP, and having plane do all. What fun is that.
And yes, I am a real world pilot.
I didn’t see anyone worried about VNAV. Just a question about whether the P2012 behaved differently than some other aircraft in the sim. Everyone can fly how they choose to fly.
All that said, the P2012 is a great aircraft to take to the skies whether on AP or hand flying. It absolutely is a great hand flier.
The 2012 is going to be flying short, highly managed commuter flights as it’s primary mission. The BN2 is something I’ll fly 4-6 full runs back and forth between Barth 10 and Saba 12 with the costal winds cranked. When I’m feeling feisty I’ll fly the Archer II for an hour or two in IMC between various Appalachian airports with ILS capabilities, doesn’t matter to me. But a P2012 is going to be flown with AP including VNAV, it’s designed to do a boring task well
Unfortunately I have not been enjoying this aircraft solely due to the clumsiness of the G1000. Not something the devs can do anything about and it’s on me for buying it before rethinking the avionics. But turning those awkward double knobs with the mousewheel, at least for me, turned out to be a dealbreaker…
Also I find the G1000 screens hard to read during flight on my 2560 x 1080 monitor.
EDIT: Just did another flight but mostly VFR, was very enjoyable. I think I’ll stick to VFR for now, with the map as a rough guidance.
