Temp Fix: Quest 2 V37 users with Chromatic aberration issues (Blur)

HI,

Unfortunately for a number of Quest 2 users, with the latest V37 update for the head set there have been a number of reports of issues with chromatic aberration happening ( In short, blurry, fuzzy rainbow effect when looking at the screen).

After reading through a number of sites I understand that there is a potential fix (workaround) for the meantime for some users:

Caveats:

  • Try at your own risk.
  • It Will require you to have Sidequest
  • It Will require you to run an ADB command on the headset.

Cons:

  • Once you run the command, it will only stay active while you have the headset powered. If you reset or power off your Headset, you will need to go back into Sidequest and run the command again.

Don’t know what sidequest is (Thank me later) : https://sidequestvr.com/

Ok: Steps:

  1. Start sidequest and ensure your headset is conected:

  2. click the icon that looks like this:

  3. Run this command as written exactly in picture

    Click run command

  4. Done.

Essentially this function turns back on the chromatic correction that happens because of the type of lenses used in VR headsets.

My biggest suggestion right now, is turn auto updates off and hold off until V37 is fixed with a hotfix. This is not affecting all users for some reason but there is quite a bit of chatter on reddit and on Oculust forums about this:

Link to the current oculus forums support ticket: https://forums.oculusvr.com/t5/Oculus-Quest-2-and-Quest/Blurred-Since-v37-Report-Bug-on-Headset/td-p/938862/page/8

Let me know if this works for you. Or if you have an alternate fix for this it would be great if you could share to help others.
