Terrain at different altitudes near and far from the aircraft

 Thank you for using the Bug section, using templates provided will greatly help the team reproducing the issue and ease the process of fixing it.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons?

Yes

Brief description of the issue:

The automatically generated terrain around the aircraft position has a different altitude compared to the more distant terrain, the consequence is a step between the two terrain layers and the disappearance of objects if the altitude of the near terrain is higher than the altitude of the far terrain. I know that area in the real world and the correct altitude is the one generated at close range from the aircraft.

Hey @Drake1976IT
Today I flew the DC-6 from Gibralta down along the african coast.
During the first hour auf my trip I had the same issue.

The texture tiles below my plane were different in color than the tiles farer away. Therefore new tiles, moving to my plane were popping in and tiles moving away went back to normal.

After a while this issue went away and everything was back to normal.
Thats the reason I dont have a screenshot.
I guess its just a temporary server issue.

Thanks for replying, unfortunately after repeating the flight today the problem is still there.
Can anyone check if they have the same problem in that area?
(using the package “World Update IX: Italy and Malta”)
Thank you!

I tried a flight in another part of Italy, same problem.
I tried a flight north of Barcelona in Spain, no problem.
The problem is therefore confined to Italy.
Thinking it was a problem with ‘World Update IX’ I removed this, but apart from no longer seeing the castle of Celano the terrain problem remained.
I reinstalled ‘World Update IX’ and disabled the rolling cache, but the terrain problem still remains.
Fly in Italy and check if you have the same problem. Thanks!

I have the same problem. This problem is not confined to Italy. I have had the same problem in Australia and New Zealand. Try taking off from NZWF and fly around the strip. Will post pics and video.
Tried dx11 and 12 both the same. Seems to happen where there is water in the vicinity. I have only noticed this happening since the NZ patch.

I have i9 13900k 4800 OC graphics card 32 GB ram on ssd windows 11 up to date. Latest Nvidia drivers

I also tried what you suggested above and it had no effect at NZWF see video

but i tried at and also could not replicate. There must be some type of conflict with LODs at certain alltitude … likely low level as once at a certain height the problem dissapears. I thought it might be due to 3rd party Strips but this started happening for me after the last update.
regards

Thanks for the suggestions but they did not work.
I’m about to remove everything and reinstall, any suggestions for doing a complete clean up?
Anything I should save that isn’t on the cloud? (flight log, settings, etc).

Thanks.

Reinstalling everything solved the problem.
I had installed MFS a month after its release, in two years so many updates have come out, update after update in my installation something must have gone wrong.
Unfortunately what caused that problem will remain a mystery.

PS: After reinstalling I found all my settings and profile data already applied, a indication that everything is saved on the cloud. The only thing I didn’t find was the customised settings for the cockpit views.
