Terrain at McMurdo station in Antartica is unsatisfactory

Take off towards water
PC specs and/or peripheral set up of relevant:

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

Per the known issues:

SCENERY

• Textures in Free Flight do not properly render nearing both the North and South Poles
  • Workaround: Select another location for Free Flight

The question becomes, how long until those ares become a priority to fix? Considering all the other major parts of the world people are asking to get updated, I suspect this area isn’t high on their priority list. The best hope for specific areas like McMurdo might well be third party developers.

The latest update has removed the blocky textures shown in the photos above.
