Hi all. I am having an issue with my G1000 on all aircraft in MSFS - default or third-party. The terrain details in the bottom half of the display are darkened, compared to what they should be, based on tutorials I’ve watched, or screenshots I’ve seen on this forum. I’ve installed the WT G1000 NXi update, so not sure if that’s causing some issues. I’ve enclosed a pic of what my PFD looks like, as well as a pic from a YouTube video that I’ve watched.
My PFD:
Typical PFD (what it should look like):
A couple of notes. 1) this occurs on any aircraft I use. I was typically using the 172, but it also occurs on the Beechcraft Baron & King, the Daher, Cirrus SR22, etc. I’ve removed all the mods in my community folder, and restarted the app. No difference.
- I’ve tried the SVT setting under the PFD OPT softkey, as well as the PFD display brightness under the MENU button. Nothing…
Any ideas on how to increase the brightness on the bottom half of the PFD display? It’s very helpful at night to see the terrain and runways.
TIA
Do you use the terrain masks from Bijan’s seasons? I noticed that if you use the winter masks, it also darkens the terrain on the synthetic vision and it looks like your screenshot.
No, I don’t know what those are, so I don’t use them…thanks for the reply though…

Thank you. First time posting so wasn’t sure where to post

UPDATE: it seems that this issue is system wide. G3X on the Cubcrafters and G3000 on the Cessna Longitude also have this issue, so it’s not the G1000 NXi in particular. Just thought I’d throw that out there.
Thanks…
You shouldn’t be installing any G1000 update. The WT G1000 is part of the stock sim now. This is likely your issue.
Yes, I had installed it from the marketplace. Then uninstalled it. Did not fix the issue. I’ll review to make sure…
Thanks for your advice.
Hmm, yea. I thought you were installing something else. The marketplace G1000 install is just a piece of code that points 3rd party planes to use the WT G1000. So, in that case, that would not be the cause.
Looking at this, it may just be a reference issue. You can’t really compare the NXi to the old G1000 as the colors have been adjusted, and are different. Perhaps a few different screenshots of something else, instead of just the runway, could be helpful.
Sure here’s a couple of screenshots. One from Overland, and one from over water. Thanks for any suggestions.
Yea, there is no issue there. That’s just how we set the colors. Our colors are closer to the real unit than the original was.
Ah, ok. Thanks for letting me know. Appreciate the replies.
Cheers. JP
