Texas Props Capetown to Catalina 06 Chikwenya Camp, Zimbabwe (TxTues)

NOTE: This is a NEW TIME associated with this flight!!

Feb 14th, 12:30PM-15:30PM,(GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) 18:30 UTC

Voice Communications: TexasPropsCrews Discord Server

Server : South-East Asia

Settings : All Players, No Traffic, Live Weather, Game time 09:00AM Local

Plane: DC-3, or equivalent. (180 kt needed for today) The idea is to “try” to constrain the flights to 2.5 hours, as this leg is 423 NM. We may wind up taking over 2.5 hours. Some flights in the series will be significantly shorter, and we will change prop aircraft accordingly, for visual enjoyment and time management (as we always try to fly 2.5 – 3 hours).

Departure Airport : Chikwenya Game Lodge (FVCS) airstrip, in Chikwenya Camp, Zimbabwe

Duration: 2.5 hours – 3.0 hours

Welcome to the Texas Props Capetown to Catalina Series. Whether you are a seasoned follower of Texas Props, or a new convert, we welcome you aboard. Microsoft has gifted us some new aircraft in the 40th Edition flight sim. And one aircraft in particular, the DC-3, just begs to be used in a WORLDWIDE Adventure trip. And this trip will be like no other for Texas Props, Just the series name alone brings intrigue and curiosity. We start near the bottom of the earth, in South Africa, and travel all the way to near the top of the world, in Alaska, and then back down into our USA homeland. We will then work south, ending in a trip to Santa Catalina Island. There will be discoveries of hidden gems inside Flight Sim. Animals are waiting to be discovered. New countries are calling out to us to fly over and into. And yes, we WILL incorporate lots of aircraft into this WORLDWIDE adventure. And even JETS will be used in certain situations. I know, there’s no PROP, but sometimes we just gotta go FAST! Have you flown a COPTER yet? We WILL, I can assure you. Sometimes we just gotta go SLOW, too!

The only thing missing, will be the magenta line flight plan, used by the majority of our peers in FS2020. Don’t come in expecting to load the next airport code into the GPS, and fly hands off. That’s NOT how we ROLL! We fly old school, using VOR NAV aids, and use our eyes, and our smarts to get around. And guess what, all you Xbox guys are welcome as well, since you will NEVER need to load a custom flightplan. Just load MSFS at the starting airport with an appropriate plane. I will publish the instructions (route) as a text file, before we are actually preparing to take off at the departure airport. It will contain a set of instructions and VOR freq/courses that we will follow.

I don’t want anyone to feel intimated that they don’t know how to fly the instructions. It will be possible to simply follow along, or we can help you with the Nav radios (or you can fly it later, if you miss one and know how to do it). We have pilots of all experience levels, and we want to help everyone to enjoy our virtual world. Adventurers don’t go it alone, They work together as a TEAM!

Don’t bother bringing anything without a working VOR NAV radio. If you turn OFF your Little Nav Map and just use a static VFR map, such as those found at www.skyvector.com, the immersion factor will be better. And you will need to use your EYES and your brains to keep on track.

Come on YA’LL, Let’s really SEE what MSFS is all about. The SKY is calling. Join us on our latest adventure!
