Texas Props European Capitals Tour 05 London - Dublin

Aug 26th, 19:00-21:30PM,(GMT-05:00) Central Time (US & Canada) 00:00 UTC

Voice Communications: TexasPropsCrews Discord Server

Server : South-East Asia

Settings : All Players, No Traffic, Live Weather, Game time 09:00AM Local

Plane: Cirrus SR-22, DA-62, or equivalent. (150 kt or greater cruise speed needed for today) The idea is to “try” to constrain the flights to 2.5 hours, as this leg is 281 NM! We may wind up taking over 2.5 hours. Some flights in the series will be significantly longer, and we will change prop aircraft accordingly, for visual enjoyment and time management (as we always try to fly 2.5 – 3 hours).

Departure Airport : Heathrow (EGLL) airport, London, England.

Duration: 2.5 hours – 3.0 hours

Welcome to the Texas Props EUROPEAN Tour.

This series will be a journey to visit each and every capital in Europe, all the way from Lisbon to Moscow, visiting all the capitals in between. We will be flying this tour in a VOR/Localizer navigation mode and plan to adjust PROP aircraft/speed to complete each trip leg within approx. 2.5 hours to 3 hours. Note that this is a GOAL. Some of the legs are VERY LONG!

If all you want to do is load a flightplan and “follow the magenta line”, then this tour is probably not for you! But hey, all you Xbox guys are welcome as well, since you don’t EVER need to load a custom flightplan. Just load MSFS at the starting airport with an appropriate plane. I will publish the instructions (route) as a text file, before we are actually preparing to take off at the departure airport. It will contain a set of instructions and VOR freq/courses that we will follow.

I don’t want anyone to feel intimated that they don’t know how to fly the instructions. It will be possible to simply follow along, or we can help you with the Nav radios (or you can fly it later, if you miss one and know how to do it).

But flying EUROPE alone is just NOT the same as flying with the GROUP.

Don’t bother bringing anything without a prop and a working VOR NAV radio. If you turn OFF your Little Nav Map and just use a static VFR map such as those found at www.skyvector.com, the immersion factor will be better. And you will need to use your EYES and your brains to keep on track.

Come on YA’LL, Let’s really SEE ALL of EUROPE’s capitals! (And a BUNCH of what lies in between)

Can I get permission to join on Discord?

You bet, here is a “fresh” invite. They typically expire after a week.

Why not do this on vatsim?

Well, The Pilot Club discord is flying VATSIM coupled events, but not necessarily performing any of the VOR navigation steps. They are simply running Simbrief flight plans in conjunction with VATSIM. Our main objectives are VOR navigation without using the FMS systems and GPS points. Yeah, it’s old stuff, but it’s what we do. I never really thought about trying to add VATSIM to the mix (for weekly events). Many of the guys (me included) do not have Navigraph and Simbrief installed, and probably don’t really care to do that. And we are more SCENERY oriented, not large CAT B airspace airfields. Just a bunch of GA friends. There are very few VATSIM controllers where we fly anyway. Yes, I have a VATSIM account. I don’t really consider any of it a priority for us. I think most of the guys in my discord will agree. So, you would have a choice to make. Go visit The Pilot Club for VATSIM events, or actually look at the scenery with US.
