Textron Aviation Cessna - Overspeed warning is annoying

I’m at 40k+ feet and anytime I exceed 460 TAS it sounds the Overspeed warning. Isn’t there a button I can flip to shut off the flight computer’s Overspeed warning??

I don’t want to tinker with the volume levels on my settings, just want to fly this plane at 500+ knots TAS at really high altitudes without that annoying warning nagging me.

Which Cessna?

Max speed for CJ4 is 451 True
Max speed for Longitude is 483 True

Overspeed warning isn’t an override capable event. You could check the CFG files and see if there’s an alert configured and try to comment it out…

Have you tried slowing down?

Theoretically, with the right damage setting on, a large enough “twitch” at 500 KTAS should result in black screen/game over because the airframe self-destructed at that speed.

The responses do not help. It’s the Textron Aviation… The executive jet in the bottom left of the screen in the plane selection menu. I’m on Xbox… Why don’t people bother reading the thread tag??!

I’d just like to know why the plane starts sounding an Overspeed warning at 460+ knots TAS even though I’m really high. And the warning goes on forever the plane does get damaged or anything. All assists are off and realism on max.

There’s got to be a toggle to shut down the voice just like you click the master caution switch and then the computer’s voice shuts up.

Maybe what you want as system need be functional,

doesn’t correspond with real one. Google can put you to right infos, generally about speed indications and overspeed warning, air pressure and speed at high altitudes.

  1. Textron Aviation is the manufacturer, not an aircraft type. So your thread title doesn’t make sense. Is it a CJ4 or a Longitude? ( The two Textron jets available in the SIM).

  2. How and what aircraft are shown on the aircraft selection screen will differ for each user depending on what aircraft they have available to them and what filters are set, so I’m afraid ‘bottom left’ is kinda meaningless.

  3. Overspeed warnings typically cannot be cancelled or silenced. They are a critical safety feature and are tied to the calculated Vmo for the aircraft. No pilot would wish to ignore them.

  4. If you do wish to ignore them, your options have already been given: edit the aircraft .cfg, or turn down sound settings.

  1. All it says is Textron Aviation - it’s the executive jet with the 450 ktas cruising speed and service ceiling of 45k feet.

  2. It should be thr same for all Xbox users who are using the default planes. So it’s at the bottom row far left. This order never changes. Ever.

  3. I don’t care about whether pilots don’t want to ignore them, I am not training to be a real pilot. I just want the warning gone and if there’s no switch or toggle, then too bad. I’ll just go back to the fighter jets then.

  4. Edit the cfg. file? You’re probably the 10th person who didn’t read the thread tag.

@AlpineB4652

All I want is for the Overspeed warning to shutup, that’s all. Because the plane flies just fine with the warning constantly ringing in my ears.

Yes understand,

i think due our responses you can know is simply not possible. No any kind of offence, due your player type of look is somehow not understandable to us for what you’re asking. I don’t know if Asobo will accept your required feature, very doubt…

 where are you hurry up so quickly, better no within specific aircraft performance data? Take that Darkstar then, you can be mayby like Gagarin at some feelings…

All the overspeed warning wants, is you to slow down. Now, its about you two, who will give in first? The overspeed warning or you? Let us know.

Do you know the difference between IAS and TAS?

Indicated Speed is what your Pitot Tube is picking up by way of pressure, based off a fixed (I believe) 0 feet sea level. True airspeed is what you’re really going in relation to the ground. Ground Speed is True Airspeed but factors in whether or not you’re going with or against the wind. You’ll see the differential really play out as you climb because of thin air so therefore less resistance meaning more speed potential.

You’re on console, so you have no ability to edit any configuration files, and thus you’ll need to live with Overspeed warnings.

If you really want to fly at 500 knots True, there should be jets available for purchase in the Marketplace that can do this - try some of the Military Jets.

If you don’t want to purchase one, the default F/A-18E Super Hornet should go 500 just fine.

Even better, Falcon is my go-to jet. Was just looking for a change of pace and then this thing started annoying the daylights out of me… So back to the Falcon it is

The warning sounds after 460 knots TAS… Whether at 30k feet, 45k feet or higher…

So go slower
