Texture Resolution in MSFS 2024

I am still puzzled with Texture Resolution, particularly in MSFS 2024. As I understand it, the setting deals with cockpit quality, aircraft textures, tarmac surfaces and such. What about ground details like mountains, mesh, buildings and other infrastructure?

Does anyone use low texture resolution to give more headroom to GPU VRAM until Asobo comes up with better VRAM optimization? I notice higher texture resolution is prone to fps drop during take of roll and landing.

Thanks

Texture Resolution does not affect aerial images. A setting of med or high seem generally used and is dependant on how much VRAM you have, for GPUs with 8 or less I would recommend medium, from 10 - 16 perhaps high. Turning off Raytraced shadows is also recommend.
