TFDi MD-11 2024 Released

Yea I downloaded it yesterday and it tracked my flight fine, but today nothing, I’ll try some troubleshooting and if nothing I’ll check out their discord

They did update the plugin just yesterday so that’s probably it. Start Elevatex, go the Settings —> Plugins and uninstall the old version and reinstall the new one.

yea I’m on 1.0.1

Farewell Tri-Jet: UPS Is Retiring Its Iconic MD-11 Fleet

Goodbye UPS MD-11F :expressionless_face:

FedEx plans are still TBD. I think the present plan is to bring them back in the spring sometime.

And so it begins….

On the brightside, she will live on in the sim.

Absolutely. Its amazing we have these simulators which will only get better in the future. I also miss the MD 80s but fortunately we can fly them in the sim.

Hey guys can some on help me

Im fairly new to Airliners but MD11 peaked my interest, The problem I cant seem to figure out is why the autopliolt keeps disengaging like in 10 sec….Ive set my speed and Nav and Alt…But it wont hold. Ive wachted some YT videos but nobody covers this issue

PS I do have Hardware overdrive disabled in the EFB

I’ve never had this happen and above is the only thing that’s different for me. I have it enabled (this was actually default for me). I think it means if you input some yoke or throttle by accident… I think, anyway lol.

Are you clicking on the autoflight button before you line up for takeoff, then again when airborne?
If so, is the aircraft trimmed reasonably properly before engaging it when airborne?
If none of the above, are all the pages in the FMC completed?

Well I did not press the auto flight before take off…. But once airborne I am. I try to just set it to follow heading and keep alt…but it disconnects after about 8-10 sec…auto throttle seems to be working

As far as the fmc , I set it up best I can … as far as the route … it’s all in there

Thank you for suggestions

The MD-11 is not Boeing, and it’s not Airbus, though it’s got elements of its systems that might seem familiar to both. I would strongly suggest people pull up the Quick Start Guide and keep it handy until they’re very familiar with the aircraft.

You will probably need to fill out all the sections, including the perf, init, and to/appr pages as well, or it probably won’t handle the auto flight correctly.

The MD11 Autoflight system is like no other aircraft, airliner or GA. SevenFlyer likely nailed it.

For clarity, the first press of AutoFlight arms autothrottle, second press is “actual” autopilot. After takeoff, you’ll want to hand-fly the plane so that the flight director indicators are close to being on track for both climb and lateral. Then hit AutoFlight and let “Betty” do the rest. But there are other steps as well, like arming Profile and Nav modes before takeoff. The Quick Start Guide is a good place to start.

As I mentioned earlier on this thread, I have a cheat-sheet at the ready for this specific plane’s autopilot, as it’s very different than Boeings or Airbuses.

Great suggestions!, I can see there’s a lot I need to learn

I’ll go over the quick start guide!

Thank you guys!!!

Should the come new update out very soon?

There is but man is it a fun machine once you get there. You’ll soon be slamming down on the tarmac like the rest of us. Except @wcc96387, they have ascended to the “MD-Butter” club.

quick q: say you’re at cruise altitude, but you change the altitude autopilot bug. how do you command the AP to ascend to that new altitude setting?

I think the prof button may do that.

The way I do step climbs (and this may be wrong), is to change the altitude on the center panel, then pull the rotating knob. (Pushing the button will hold the current altitude).
